With the way CAF is so dedicated to kissing Mo Salah's ass on their social media handles (especially TikTok), I don't know if some smaller teams could really stand a chance against Egypt.

The bias is real

It is one of the reasons I really need Ivory Coast to top that group, so, na dem go do the honors against Egypt. Star man for star man, the Elephants trump Egypt. Fair fight

Mujtahida:

I think you are reading too much into the calls for Sadiq. I don't think anybody here has praised him.
We must understand context. The context is this: Sadiq is a player that for me and many Nigerians is not pleasant to the eye. It is against that general disapproval that some of us stand to say 'hey guys, yes he's not tidy but he scored.

In fact I believe that even if he scores loads of goals, people will still not take a fancy to him.

He's clumsy and his movement lacks the fluidity that can give our attack bite. But the thing is that he scored. No one can take that away from him. Saying this is nothing extreme, it is fact because like Eguavoen has constantly harped on in most of his interviews, goal is power!

Sadiq distorts our attack: fact. He scored a goal: fact.

Even at the 2016 Olmpics, he was playing raggedly and he'd score. I never fancied him then and I still don't fancy him now but just as at the Olympics, if you play that guy, in his higgedly piggedly way he will score.

I just watched Eguavoen's post match interview and he said Sadiq played well. Peterside Idah on Channels Sunrise Daily just now said this: 'a lot of people gave Sadiq stick yesterday but I want to congratulate him for scoring the goal. It's not easy. Sadiq for me yesterday needed a lot of help and support. The goal he scored just changed everything'.

So no one is praising Sadiq. On the contrary we are saying, let's pipe down with the downers.

In the larger scheme of things, I don't think that with Osimhen, Ighalo, Onuachu, Awoniyi, we should bother so much about Sadiq.

we don't need ighalo anymore in the super eagles

The Fifa Ranking and how it is calculated.( Picture 1,2,3)
Literarily a team can calculate the amount of point gained or lost after a game and predict it position before FIFA announces the monthly Ranking.

Reminder: Iheanacho's Outside-of-the-left-boot pass is the Assist of Afcon2021 so far. Undisputable until I find a better one

I only gave it a sentence mention but I feel it deserves more and Uh, Safarigirl is right. Nacho deserves his flowers for that moment of class and super brilliance. wink

On matchday 1, I said Aribo's headed pass to Nacho was already an assist of the tournament contender.

Then Musa Barrow of Gambia dropped an assist Masterclass vs Mauritania. I was like Wow.... this one beats Aribo's oooo. I didn't mention Barrow's on this thread but I kept watching.

Then I saw Goalie, Jean Noel Amonome's Assist from his own half (edge of his box 18 infact) for Jim Allevinah's goal vs My Boys, Morocco and I was left stunned. Na Chakla cause am too shaa. His slip made the ball reach Allevinah but that was an impressive albeit lucky assist from the GK.

A couple of others come to mind as well but NONE STANDS ABOVE IHEANACHO'S HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, SUPER PURPOSEFUL AND WORLD CLASS OUTSIDE-OF-THE-LEFT-BOOT/FOOT Pass into Sadiq's path for that easy tap-in.

It's the kind of assist we hail Joao Cancelo for at Man City which he gives with the outside of his right foot/boot.
Well, now Nacho did it with his left and it was absolutely sublime.

Right now, in my books, Nacho now holds the assist of the tournament. No caps.

We need to talk about this more. This is part of why Iheanacho looks UNDROPPABLE in this team. Part of why he is part of the "Spine" wink

Expect more from the Seniorman. cool

The coach made 8 changes to the starting line up for yesterday's match, leaving Ekong, Ndidi and Iheanacho. I think we know the players that make up that spine he talked about in his tactical analysis video. You can be sure these players are not getting dropped in this tournament.

Well observed.

The Algeria unbeaten run and the matches play.
in Algeria 35 unbeaten run they had 10 draws( 2 friendlies and 8 Qualifiers all against them ranked lower than them)

Interestedly, Algeria were 13th in Africa and 67th in the world before the unbeaten started.
Now they are second in Africa and 29th in the world.

I believe Ajayi is an upgrade on Omeruo. He offers the same level of defensive solidity plus superior ball-carrying ability and an excellent aerial threat.

Ekong x Ajayi is the way from now on.

Omeruo should continue.

Thank you so much

The assist was quality, top of the drawer stuff, it made 90% of the goal.

Seniorman is having a great tournament, and as a dedicated fangirl, I cannot be happier

Balogun is a good player

But common he won’t play forever ok

After the World Cup he should retire from international football
Has Ramos and Thiago retired? Balogun has not shown to be declining. He can play for another four years as far as I'm concerned. Defence needs consistent experienced legs. That Balogun didn't underperform under Rohr's decline has a lot to say.

Musa can go after World cup, but not Balogun.

Did Ramos make it to last euros ?

Ramos has been struggling with injury recently at psg ,the World Cup is near so let’s see if Luis Enrique will drop his boys for him

Is balogun half the player Ramos or Thiago Silva is ,is he playing at high level like them ?

Balogun is good for the next World Cup where he will be 34 ,maybe you want him to play another World Cup at 38 like Thiago Silva will be doing ,you think say Chelsea Na Rangers abi

Balogun will be 34 while musa is 29 ,where did I tell you musa must go to another World Cup ?

Will balogun be playing at a high level at 38 ? I doubt Baba

Na una coaching crew call musa and e no consign me ,you can see that he didn’t step out of the bench yesterday

You are intentionally hiding information here during their unbeaten run they beat Tunisia, Senegal (twice), Colombia, Nigeria (twice) while their draws included teams like Tunisia and Mexico who were above them at the time of the rankings, they also dispatched minnows like Djibouti, Niger, Botswana and Mauritania with a cumulative score of 37-1 over the course of 3 years which makes it one of the best runs in the world during this period if you show me how they have not managed to be the best in Africa and how Morocco especially had a better run then I would take you seriously

For two years now, Balogun has been very consistent and improving, for both club and country. None of our present defenders have been consistent as him. Good run of form is not yet consistency. If he keeps on performing well, he should keep playing. We need people who can guarantee good performance anytime.
