Conditions necessary for growth are moisture, air, heat, light and substrate with nutrients.

All those conditions are present, so it will continue to sprout until at least one of those conditions - likely nutrients - is no longer available.

And that should be very soon.

it's using the carbohydrates in the yam sett to grow before the sett rot away,if it's not planted in the soil in order for it to get direct nutrients from the soil it will die off after a while.

I got two tubers of yam sometimes last year, we cooked the first one, but while eating it, we discovered it was not sweet at all.

Since we can't just throw money away like that, we left the second yam there.

Lo and behold, after some time, the second yam started growing right there inside a tiled kitchen, even without been rooted in the subsoil.
It continues to grow rapidly but without leaf.
I took the picture of it as seen below in December 2021.
(Note: it has grown beyond this level now)
I want to see how far it can grow on the tiled surface in the kitchen.

As I be Architect, my biology no reach that level but I know we have botanist in house who can educate us about what is happening.

whats wrong with yam growing on tiles?

This is wow. Though the vine is feeding from its tubers and getting moisture from the room too. But it won't have a tuber over time

I wanted to say this. Correct.

Room moisture and food stored in the tuber. Once the limit is reached it dies

It is growing based on nourishment from the tuber .I think it is called endosperm or so in biology. If after a while it doesnt get in contact with earth to obtain further nourishment, it will wither away.

The yam tuber is supplying the food to grow. This is why it's growing indoors without sunlight and water for photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants/organisms with chlorophyll manufacture their own food using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.

It's getting its nutrient to continue to grow from the yam tuber itself and would continue like that till the whole tuber rot away. The reason there ain't no leaves is because there's no sunlight in your kitchen.
