You are forgetting a big factor. We were down to ten men. So you need enough midfield and defense presence.

I am not saying the call to double up with an extra tall striker is wrong but the given circumstance means we needed players with pace to compensate for the loss of a player.

But why do u keep on telling this story There was literally only one man pressing and the rest were in their position. Almost every time the rest were in their own half. U are saying we need enough midfield and defensive presence but at the same time u don't want the coach to bring in a defender who is also a midfielder.

What was the worst that could have happened apart from us losing by 2 or 3 instead of one? That is still losing but at the end of the day u give ur self every shot to win the game. This is why I said I would do it at the 80 minute mark when all was seeming lost.

Lol...sincerely I am at a cross road..kinda confused.cos looking at d Tunisian match critically it shows eguavoen has some limitations in his tactical ability. A sound coach could av rescued something out of dt match prior to d red card.however going forward I would suggest a rejig in d t.c

1)maybe get a decent sound foreign T.A while eguavoen takes d role of d head coach in d team(reason is eguavoen presence in d team will maintain d bond we av presently in d team;WC shows he's a very good manager just like rohr / TD in d NFF set up(his former role). shorunmu shld replace our current g.k coach, maintain Dr terry, add imama or any oda decent npfl coach to come replace yobo, salisu goes to 2nd assistance while Paul and yobo leaves d team(dem no kuku useful b4)

2) we add amuneke to d present coaching crew to act as TD while every oda person would maintain deir position..aside yobo and paul .however dis time around,d TD won't work afar from d team like eguavoen does during rohr.he would b present in deir trainings, drillings, team selection.I believe eguavoen is cool headed and will b willing to work with anybody. Both can even b on d touchline dishing out instructions same way we c Sam alardyce and Sammy Lee does cool

GOOD IDEA

Did you watch the same game or another? It's okay to be dissatisfied with the result, but that shouldn't mean rewriting recent history. It was obvious the Tunisians came with a game plan having studied our wing play attack, but Eguavon changed formation, unfortunately it happened after they got the goal. Luck wasn't on outside, simple! But to claim the Tunisians played better or controlled the game would be false

Olodo rabata. Maybe you are better than Mourinho, Guardiola, etc coaches who have made substitutions in the first half and before the second half commenced.

You are surely a pangolo coach.

You that is tactically savvy can you point to anywhere you posted what needs to be done and who needs to go in before they scored? Your analysis post-mortem. It's only because we conceded (lost) that's why you are saying all this.

The change in style wasn't late. Changing style in 60th minutes is not late. It was just unfortunate that we conceded before then.

The team played well and for the first time I didn't really see where to blame the team after a lost. Barring injuries, if we qualify for world cup, we will be hot.

Look at the screenshot. I made that comment on the 36 minutes.!

When your efforts are fruitless your opponent is in charge. We were neatly out-smarted from the 1st minute to the last minute

have never played any World Cup qualifier

Samuel Chukwueze's game for the S.E started on it's decline when we switched to 4-4-2. Imagine playing an inverted winger like Chukwueze as a midfielder.

His performance is not as woeful as some people are making it to be, even though beyond expectation.

The best way to stop North African teams is one on one marking because they hardly dribble rather they adhere strictly to team work(give me I give you). When you mark them one on one starve of communication. Ikhana Kadiri and Okey Emordi demystified them with Enyimba 2003/2004

This sounds more like a generalisation.

The are usually tactically more well organized than sub-saharan African teams but their styles aren't as rigid as you are suggesting.

There has been pretty sound analysis even on this thread about the danger we faced by being too predictable in our build up play at this AFCON. It is fair to say our coaching crew were outfoxed by the Tunisians...quite embarrassing losing to a team on a poor run of form with many absentees.

We are going in circles. I said, due to the lack of presence, everyone injected brought in pace, except Sadiq who was still fairly fast but he played top.

Going with two tall players (the topic was getting an extra tall figure upfront), will hinder the depleted middle and defense.

Unless you are suggesting Semi will come to play midfield, which totally deviates from your earlier point.

Your point was throwing an extra man with height up front.

My point is that we can not throw an extra man up front because of the red card.

Finito.

We created 13 chances and they created 7 even when we were in a large part of he game a man down and you said we were totally outclassed.

Na wa. That point is off.

Please, in that game, Eguavoen demonstrated tactical flexibility all through, which means he thought out of the box.

So your points above are not factual.

I don't want to call Eguavoen a poor tactician.
He was not just outclassed, he was in want of ideas.

Have you forgotten that I said Eguavoen showed the mentality of a loser when he talked about his sleepless nights spent in the effort to draft the 28 man list. I said that it shouldn't be so. Life is predictable, we spot patterns, and we tell.
Eguavoen was clearly in want of ideas.

Coming to tell us the boys tried, is akin to saying i spent sleepless nights drafting the 28 man list. Efforts without intelligence will make excuses and failure. Eguavoen was outclassed.

Dude also knows subconsciously that he will fail and you can tell from his speeches, his excuses etc.

What you are typing is perception. Judge Eguavoen for his on field performance. He was voted best coach of he group stage. He gave us the fear factor. United the team and brought back belief.

And those guys over tried. I am proud of them.

So spending sleepless nights because of little to know time is a fact.

Not worth criticising but praising.

This is a man who was short of Strikers who would have made a very big impact in this tournament.
This is also a man who had to assemble a makeshift team within a few days prior to the tournament.
Looking at the game against Tunisia;
Quite alright he was outsmarted, had it been we had scored an early goal like we did against Egypt, that game would have gone in our favor. But the Tunisians knowing our point man, caged him well.
On the otherside, Chukwueze wasn’t helpful.
Things got worse when point man no:2 who would have really changed the game got red carded few minutes into the game.
We had to rely on luck.
Had it been we had an AM, a good playmaker the story would have been different.

Football is not rocket science. The coach could have simply told Semi to drop back when we don't have the ball. When games are on the line u will see Gerrard Pique play as a second striker and also defend. U are trying to overlook the obvious here.

U are about to get sent parking from a tournament and u are talking about being a man down. Even if u are 4 men down u should still try to equalise the game na.

The game Pique played as a second striker towards the end, the team was not down to ten men.

That is the point.

At what point will Semi join the front? When we are in possession right? When he moves up front, you are going to be down to seven men in defense and midfield. When you launch the ball and lose it, it becomes a suicidal scene. Because you must have either Simon or another payer supporting.

So with the red card, no matter what time, you can not send two tall strikers.

All those mostly playing were pact players to cover the lack of a player. So even putting Semi in midfield would have been difficult.

I repeat, the game was well managed tactically given the situation. You can not send in two tall strikers when your team is a man down.

You make those changes when the chances are not coming. However, being a man down, we still created chances. Our problem was not chances. Our problem was that we did not bury our chances.

That has nothing to do with the coach or game management.
