Isn't it worrisome that the OND holders stand a better chance of securing jobs now in Nigeria. Banks, companies and even the civil service now prefer OND certifications to the Bachelor's degree.

Question now is, aren't university undergraduates wasting their time?

And I thought I was the only person that heard this.
Information reaching us is that companies now boldly declare that what they want is OND and HND.

What is happening?

There shouldnt be any such thing as "they can't pay bcs holders". Why don't you pay them whatsoever you pay the OND holders.. Millions of Bsc graduates are ready to accept.

A firm can comfortably pay 2 OND employees with a Bsc. Employee,thereby reducing number of degree holders on the pay roll and also allows for more hands to be engaged while minimizing costs and maximizing returns

The simple answer is that polytechnic are doing more of practicals than theory, that's why banks prefer them to those that attend University,but University are doing mainly on theory.

They still won't take you because they're not sure of what will happen in the future with you as a bsc holder on the payroll.

Is it not the same thing you're saying?
According to you, companies prefer 2 OND holders because they are cheaper than one B.Sc holder.

OND graduate has 6 months working experience, because of their IT and adding the HND IT experience translate to 1 and half years work experience when leaving school.

Life has no meaning at the moment , killings here and there , Bsc is the least of important things right now. People are just living to survive

The educational system is grossly substandard

In this age of digitalisation, if you're a graduate and you still believe salary job will help you actualize your dreams of becoming great, I feel sad for you.


Playing around YouTube alone for 4hrs daily for 30days should bring any intelligent SSCE holder out of generational poverty.

Bsc. HND, OND and the rest is not relevant in a society like Nigeria where the average monthly take home for a graduate is less than 80 USDollar

The best is to be a boss on your own, no matter how small the business is.

Because a lot of BSc holders are Airheads. They don't know anything and have no employable skills. Just "I am a graduate" and vibes.

Very useless! No connection no job! That's the new trend.

Recruiters of labour prefer OND certificate holders to B.SC because is cheaper for them.
