Make the car affordable to ordinary people, no be only politicians una dey go dey make car for.

From a practical standpoint, it doesn't make sense to create lesser quality cars to compete in a market that is already being served by the huge used-car market.

Just like the ordinary people cannot buy a new Toyota or Subaru, new Innoson vehicles are also not affordable. Folks just have to wait 5-8 years for there to be enough used Innoson vehicles.

When it becomes cheap and affordable for companies to build cars in Nigeria (cheap electricity, cheap and plentiful flat steel, tubular steel, rubber, and other things that go into making cars), we can discuss affordable cars. I wish I can afford it, but for now, all I can do is admire and encourage. I even would like to take a 3-month internship with Innoson in Nnewi to study.

I am very happy to hear this news about Gov Soludo's plan to use Innoson vehicles.

Innoson cars are not really affordable for the poor masses. My dream family car Innoson G20 price is seriously unaffordable not to talk more of Ikenga.
The prices are much that's why people are patronizing foreign cars a lot instead of home made. If he can lower the prices, it will be great.

For you not to know this means you’ve got to do some googling for knowledge. I can mention at least ten examples of two different types of vehicles from two different types of manufacturers that share the same drivetrains

Wht is hard about welding together some metal parts and pass them through remodelling machines in order to make it fine and smooth?

Yes, Innoson do not have financial capacity to withstand the losses that could be incurred in case of recalling of vehicle models if there was a design default after production. He is not as big as Mercedes or Toyota who could take such risk. So he plays safe by buying an already tested and trusted design done by Chinese Engineers. Note he bought the design, not the parts from them. In the auto manufacturing industry it's called Re-bagding. Then he bring the design down to Nnewi and uses his own raw materials and machineries to produce fantastic vehicles.

All the indeginous Pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria uses the British Pharmacopedia as the standard for manufacturing their drugs. Does that make them British companies?

We remembered vividly, this interview by the Chairman of Innoson Group recently........

Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman, Innoson Group of Companies Nigeria limited, says the federal government, under President Muhammadu Buhari, has given enormous patronage and support to his firm, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM).

Mr Chukwuma made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Nnewi, Anambra.

He also named Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Anambra, Gombe, and Bauchi as well as Nigeria military among the states buying Innoson vehicles.

Mr Chukwuma further told NAN that if patronage is given to his firm, it could transform Nigeria into a vehicle manufacturing hub in Africa in no distant time.

“I can say that Innoson vehicle manufacturing is doing well, especially with the level of patronage and support the company is enjoying under the present federal government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Soludo cannot ever buy up to a quarter of what the FG has bought from Innoson so far. Do not try to create an imaginary enemy when there is none

This is progress. Kudos to Prof. Soludo and Innoson. For this huge feat achieved, at least Innoson should get their press release right. Sentences like "for the people to be able to afford brand new vehicle," and "patronage will take us to an enviable heights," do not help your marketing.
