It is more of dehumanization in a very powerful and instant way.Imagine some one that had never hurt a fly our rarely thinks of hurting someone in a very gruesome way, Is now told to Butcher a loved one.Psychologically it awakens a very deep and wicked side of a person ,asin take for instance when u are posed with a new math problem in school which requires u to put in more seriousness and mental upliftment to solve,that makes u to start tasking ur brain in a direction it had never ventured before which changes the way u look at things after overcoming that particular problem. Blood ritualist becomes extremely intelligent in a very wicked and deceptive way which a normal person may never attain unless faced by such equivalent challenge in life.The Doors of dark genius is being unlocked, they suddenly realize that they had been unserious , not smart and time wasting .At these stage nothing matters to them any more rather than their selfish interest which may be wealth or power of any kind. But mind u all these behaviour and gradual change are very rare to dictate by normal people around them, so it mostly sound like a myth every time.

I'm not an adherent of the Yoruba Religion but I've done a lot of
reading in the field of comparative
religion since the 1980s.

NOTE:
Babalawos (i.e., Baba Alawo) are the Priests in charge of the liturgy of the Yoruba Religion just as you have Reverend Fathers of the Catholic Religion (or Pastors for the Pentecostals), Buddhist Monks,
Imams, etc.

Babalawo is the alternate name
for Ifa Priests of the internationaly
recognized Yoruba religion and
Babalawos don't do money rituals by killing humans like some of those imbecilic and crappy Nigerian movies and fundamentalist Christians falsely portray.

There are over 5000 Babalawos in
Cuba alone and others in Brazil, USA, UK, Trinidad and Tobago and other areas where the Yoruba Religion exists! Both Whites and Blacks are adherents of the
Yoruba Religion which first got to the Americas via the plantation slave-trade, and subsequently via peaceful migration to the West post-1900!

Prof. Wande Abimbola who was the
VC of Obafemi Awolowo University is an internationally respected Babalawo (Ifa Priest) and that did NOT stop him from performing well as a senior academic and VC for 2-terms.

Chief Elebuibon and many well-educated
Babalawos who are Professors and more exist and not some scruffy-looking, poor Babalawo that some of the ignorant Nigerian film
producers who may be Xtians or Muslims portray thereby misleading the public!

Babalawos (Ifa Priests) went to media organisations to enlighten them and the public about the
defamatory comments being made by ignorant people who say they
use humans for money ritual. They also said doing so has negative
spiritual consequences (based on
the law of karma). Ms. Abimbola
Adelakun of PUNCH was the
Journalist who interviewed the
Babalawos.

NOTE:
1) They also said that the Yoruba name for money ritualists is
"Oloogun ika."

"Ika" is a Yoruba word for wickedness/evil.

2) The Yoruba name for a Herbalist is "Onisegun" NOT Babalawo like one Journalist wrongly indicated in
his newspaper article. Ogun means medicine. Onisegun means herbal medicine maker in
Yoruba (or Herbalist in
English).
