Before we all scream in excitement about Cisse and local coaches.Do you know that Aliou Cisse was allowed to employ 2-3 foreign expatriates to work for him?

During Samson Siasia tenure he mostly went with his right hand man, kalika, who was paid in USD as his match reader/strategiest. He was successful then, the times Siasia didn't meet his objectives coincided with NFF not making provision for kalika and he didnt do well without him..

Was Kalika with Siasia when he won Bronze in the last Olympics? No he wasn't.

no right thinking coach who has the luxury of players scattered in top leagues all over Europe will ignore them for local based players in the name of quota system as witnessed during keshi’s time with the super eagles. All was to make way for desperate home based players as a marketing tool to ship them off to obscure leagues in Europe and Asia

Keshi knew it will be difficult to coerced exposed pros in top European leagues to dump their agents and sign with his management team inorder to have a chance in the national team so he gave almost 50% slot to local based players who will do whatever he says just to make the team

All those 2 months training with local based players when you have seasoned pros in europe was just waste of tax payers money cheesy

Imagine dropping an Imoh Ezekiel who had over 15 goals in that season in the colors of one of Belgians top clubs standard liege for a Uchebo from the same league who didn’t score up to 6 goals with relegation strugglers cercle
brugge

Until then taiye Taiwo was our best left back and was doing well in the colors of dynamo kiev with ideye and lukman but they all got ignored just to make room for oshaniwa and co

Abdul ajagun was in his 1st season with Greek giants panathiniakos and performed well but was not deemed good enough for a chance in the team

Uche and martins were banging in goals for their clubs but got ignored

Aluko was doing well with hull city and arguable their best player in the championship then but he never got a chance. Even prior to the afcon triumph a year before the World Cup he was the shining light in Glasgow rangers but to keshi he wasn’t good enough and uzoenyi was better than him

Do you know eve to the submission of the World Cup list keshi and the nff had a big fight because Osaze wasn’t listed for the tournament? It took last minute intervention of top officials in the nff to add his name

Mk una leave tori for another day

You guys are fond of the same thing. Using the same ideology for all coaches. Keshi had a style. He plays long balls to huge, strong forwards. That was why Ideye and Emenike worked for him. Sometimes, he likes his forwards drifting wide.

That was why we had someone like Bright Dike, Aaron Samuel, Shola Ameobi making the squad. That was one thing that hampered having loads.

So, Imoh Ezekiel will score hundreds goals but Uchebo had the height and strength to suit Keshi's system.

When Keshi makes such decisions, you guys scream corruption.

Another thing is that Keshi hates when players do not play to instruction. After much lobbying, he brought in Osaze and the first thing he did was to play his own thing.

Even Keshi said he did not even know what Osaze was doing.

So when the coach drops someone for not playing to instruction, you guys scream, how can you pick home base against European star.

There is more to football than choosing players.

emekus why not critize keshi also for bringing in Sunday mba or winning the afcon with the frindge players and also going to the second round of the world cup with Dem or was Martin and uche not in the 2010 world cup and was yakubu not a top striker when he clearly missed an open net, perior to us winning the 2013 nations cup was it not the pros that executes the previous ones we kept on loosing in the semi final and final and celebrating golden bronze, today Sunday mba a frindge player, has a golden medal at afcon with a golden goal which is missing in some of our so called important stickers profile cool keshi choice of player's worked for him irrespective of him being controversial or not every manager will always have thier preferred kind of player's Same as Rorh and Eguavoen and amunike will do same The earlier you know this the better for you wink

The point is simple. There are other factors than stats.

Don't know about the provision for expatriates to work with Cisse.

But I recall that Cisse's predecessor, Alain Giresse was offered a very lucrative contract by the Senegalese FA in 2013 to deliver an AFCON title which he failed to do.

Cisse complained about the disparity between the trust the FA had in Giresse which reflected in his contract terms and himself when he took over the reins shortly after in 2015.

I am not implying that the local coaches are outrightly the best, but if we must go foreign, let's go for first grade coaches. Egypt has shown a good example in that regard over the last few years.

keshi was just fortunate as a coach during his time with the super eagles and we all know how it ended when he ran out luck which resulted to not qualifying for back to back afcon

Can you bring a stat that shows loyalty, trust and belief in a coach?

Some of those players were egotistical and bigger than the coach. Sylvanus Okpala narrated how Ike Uche strictly disagreed with them repeatedly until he asked if everybody plays the way they want, will there be order on the field?

He narrated how Taiwo was planning to make the team fail.

It is not always the way you think.

Story. There is nothing like luck ran out. The reason why we did not beat South Africa and qualify then was simple. Musa missed two golden opportunities to the best of my knowledge. Musa scoring those two goals would have made us qualify. Keshi still made sound changes and we drew the match.

He also suffered with Hope Akpan getting injured and rushing Echiejile back.

You guys admit it. The man was sound and did well for us.

oga comot here you and your loyalty. It’s the duty of the coach to find ways in managing big egos when he notice such among his players

When it comes to man management keshi lacks it and talking about ego he is the most egocentric ex international I can think of

In taiwo’s case did you bother to find out the reason a once loyal and dedicate taiye became rebellious under him? What did keshi do to management the situation by having a truce with some of the snr players? Didn’t the same happen between him and yobo just because that hobo as well had connections in the nff that made him untouchable?

The same problem oliseh had with snr players when he took over happened during keshi’s time with the likes of yobo,Taiwo, etuhu,Osage even mikel just that mikel was a top professional and a calm person as well he kept mute while yobo was too big for him to rubbish

In situations like that it’s the duty of the coach to try and mend build a working relationship with his players

Do you know in keshi’s team they were certain players that doesn’t see eye to eye? Oga talk wetin u no knw

Mr. Shift, Mr. Nepotism, Mr. Sentiments. After all the names, you do not know what goes on behind the scenes. Do you know the players behind the mutiny? There are things that stats do not show.

If you like be world best. If you are not loyal to the coach, you are useless to him.

You do not know and you did not find out anything. So do not make mouth like of stats and club performances are the only criteria for picking players.

There is also system, there is sticking to instructions, there is loyalty. There is attitude.

Taiwo felt he was too big for Keshi to play Echiejile ahead of him. Because of that, he decided to rally with the players to make Keshi fail.

No coach will take such a player. Unfortunately, Keshi kept the names of the players secret. He just saw them off with style.

However, Sylvanus made it public recently because of Taiwo trying to change the story.

If coaches can handle the hot heads and egocentric retired and active players like cantona,cr7,ibrahimovic,gattuso,pogba,gascoigne,best etc then that of osaze,Taiwo and co na moi moi
Guardiola cuts them off like dirty bread.

There is more to football than choosing players.
hmmmm, players who have played under different managers and none have ever said they don’t play to instructions but e reach Keshi turn they suddenly don’t know how to play to instructions. Wonderful

Ameobi went to the World Cup after using Nigeria to play draft all his career while hoping he will play for England ,but brown Ideye didn’t make it to the World Cup
the same ameobi we have been begging since 2000 when he broke into Newcastle’s first team but never considered us good enough for him na wey keshi smuggled in when em done wash cheesy

I remember a young heereveen center back then Kenneth otigba who was born and raised in Hungary begging then to have a chance to atleast train with the team during keshi’s time but he got no chance. He even went to the extend of refusing invitations from the Hungarian FA then just to fulfill his dream of playing for us but keshi never invited him for a kick about with the team let alone friendly games
