Even if this bill is sign will it be implemented? Buhari who had warned his cabinet from embarking on traveling abroad for medical tourism is the one who breaks the rules.

Great bill. And why did the deputy speaker ask him such a hasty question? The bill is against medical tourism on public expense, which shouldn’t be a problem for them as they can afford to pay out of pocket. The only problem is that those at the top are exempt as usual, which is just a sad state of our democracy and rule of law.

The truth remains that the national assembly deliberately beats about the bush over stealing or looting of public funds.

It is no longer a secret that the major aim of our politicians for grabbing power is looting of our common resources. Developed nations thrived on integrity, but China chose an uncommon path...death sentence. If it is impossible to make death sentence the law, why not make it life jail and recovery of the loot?

They will not choose that path because most of them will be caught. Rather than do that, they give us some diversionary ideas just to suffocate non political office holders.

I think the bill is a rubbish bill they should rather say no public officer should patronizing foreign medical services

I have been reading comments since looking for someone, that will have same perspective as I am you make a relevant statement.

And moreover there's no how this law makers will doctrine a document called 1999 constitution that will favor masses.
Because the constitution has already laid a good foundation for elites .

I'm not impressed. Such bill should be nothing short of resign from your public position if you seek/import medical attention. The medical attention must also be confined to government facilities within the person's jurisdiction. Anything short of this can be easily manipulated and bastardized.

If the bill will be pass, it a welcome development.

And they keep making laws that cannot be enforced. The problem with Nigeria has never been dearth of laws but lack of political will and weak institutions to ensure enforcement.

A typical example is political officer holders owning and operating foreign accounts. Politicians break this law with reckless abandon with zero consequences.

Can't people just read and understand paragraph 4 and see the clause in the bill?...so it will be so difficult for a president or to get his minister to grant exceptions or approve the trip,or the governor to get his commissioner do the needful.besides tje bill did not prevent them from going on the trip with personal funds.

Those house members dey will not endore it,almost all this people go into politics because of this benefit

Just my thought. This bill will not see the light of the day. Or will they exempt presidency? Maybe there is no plan for him to travel again for medical treatment.

Audio house of rep.....making mockery of themselves. Get serious jokers....there are serious issues killing Nigerians.

Same bill supposed to be passed on any member or fg executives that sends his/her children to be schooling abroad. Primary and secondary school specifically. If all their children are here with us. They will be working hard to stop insecurities.

This is the reason why we can't afford not to be actively involved in the politics of this country. Enough of lamenting. We have to start from somewhere if we aspire to make the changes we want.

My thoughts exactly...This bill does nothing for the medical sector because these guys have more than enough money to fly themselves out and fund their own medical treatment.

If they want to have a meaningful impact on our health sector, they should put an outright band on foreign medical trip for all political/public office holders, weather self sponsored or state sponsored.

Besides they can easily increase thier allowances to cover for the loss in statesponsoship, so this bill is meaningless.

Oh so some people can go with special permission abi.

2. Reduce foreign education
3. Reduce foreign vacation
4. Reduce foreign deposit accounts
5. Reduce foreign visa applications and exams
6. Reduce foreign visits to "invite direct investment". Investors will assess you online before coming.
7. Reduce foreign tours to "understand bilateral relationships". Let the various Nigerian Embassies do their jobs.
