The trades this year have been very strategic, esp in the EC. There are like 5 lord of d rings type teams in the east right now. LeKing, better retire in LA |

Interesting trade. For me it all depends on what you can get out of Ben Simmons. If Ben Simmons can exorcise his demons and hold himself accountable then the Nets will ultimately win this trade. As for Harden once the conversation enters playoffs I just don't trust that dude

A40:In my opinion, it may actually be a financial and on court win for the Nets, IF and only IF Ben Simmons is healthy and not rusty. The Nets would not necessarily need Simmons to shoot the ball, especially during crunch time. During crunch time, the Nets will rely heavily on KD/ Kyrie to dominate possession. This is different from the Sixers situation where he was the 2nd best player with significant touches. Also, it is important to note that NY is about lifting COVID restrictions, which ultimately means Kyrie will become available for home games, which is going to be huge. The argument against Harden in this trade is his health. He has struggled the entire season to stay in the court, don’t forget his injury issues last season. The Sixers are taking a huge risk with this one and it think Ainge has budged on the pressure from the public to stop wasting Embiid’s prime, which is a fair argument but Harden is not the solution. Now, if he somehow stays healthy, then they stand a chance but I don’t think a Harden/ Embiid 1-2 punch is enough to come out of the East. |

One thing you can guarantee about the nba is that their trade deadlines is always explosive. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 10:09pm On Feb 10, 2022 |
Roland17:The fact they were able to get Seth and a big means zero pressure on Ben Simmons to do anything other than defend. For me the Nets easily won this trade considering they are also getting two first rounders. Now whether Kyrie stays or goes it hardly matters. They can always get a third banana Harden on the other hand is playing his worst since his OKC days and this Harden I dey see clearly is not someone that works on his body in the off season. If he suddenly adopts that lifestyle at 33 I would be shocked but stranger things have happened |

A40:So you are changing tack now, abi? It's no longer an obvious flop but now poor equilibrium and a truck load of whataboutism. Lol, abeg sit. There is a reason attacking someone from behind is considered cowardly and grossly effeminate - you've given the person no chance to steel or defend himself from harm consciously or by instinct. And no I didn't call out Jokic a second time, I responded to people still gloating after seeing the replays of the carnage wrought by the human projectile and knowing the aftermath of that attack. If something (e.g a car) or someone heavy or powerful and in motion hits you from behind abruptly, the inertia generated could snap your neck causing a whiplash(a neck injury) which can kill or maim or cause brain damage or mental problems. We saw the danger on that video and called Jokic out but the voice of the many drowned out the voice of the few. ******************* From day 1 I always posited that appropriate sanctions should be meted against dirty plays and players. My only grouse with what transpired remains excessive retaliation and it hasn't changed. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 1:24am On Feb 11, 2022 |
DeeMain:It always surprises me when people expect retaliation to be rational. You hurt someone, and said person while experiencing both pain and anger instinctively retaliates, and somehow we think said decision will be rational. When people are emotionally compromised, especially from negative emotions, never expect rational behaviors from them. That is why if you do not want to be on the receiving end of such irrational reaction, you do not mess with people in the first place. |

Shaq must be reading this thread. He pretty much echoed my sentiments regarding the Simmons trade, specifically as it relates to being a 1-2 punch. |

I personally wasn't expecting any major trades, especially with the recent form the team has enjoyed. Also, Brad has never been aggressive in making changes to his roster, so I knew we were going to be passive. It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer/ offseason though. The Celtics send J. Richardson, R. Langford, a 2022 1st round protected pick to the Spurs for D. White. Personally, that is a lot to give up for White but I believe Brad is trying to stay under the luxury tax. We also sent the contracts of D. Schroder (no surprises here), E. Freedom and B. Fernando to Houston for D. Theis. |

I believe once K.D is back, the Nets will not miss Harden that much.... |
| Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 10:13am On Feb 11, 2022 |
Khanben:No way in hell the Nets got better. They just got a bit more depth but that team is not as scary as it used to be. Philly are now a legit championship contender though. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 10:21am On Feb 11, 2022 |
birdman:Lol. All these talks about east. We'll be here watching how they'll all fall like a pack of cards come playoffs. The boys would be separated from the men. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Afromentalist: 10:44am On Feb 11, 2022 |
steady986:I actually believe the Nets got this trade by a large margin, though Phily also solved their problem. In a way issa Win Win, but the nets are bigger winners. Simmons will be expected only to defend and a bit of ball handling (when Kai is not there) which is absolutely what he does best. (External) shooting won't be so much required of him, especially down the strech with KD, Kai or even Curry. Harden and Embiid might work, but it is less certain. No one really knows where harden is physically and both are ball dominant. Still, it looks good on paper and perhaps it shall in real life. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 2:37pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
Afromentalist:It's like you people have forgotten what Simmons looked like last year, especially in the playoffs. There'll be times you'll feel sorry that he can't shoot. That thing disrupts the offense massively. I have Westbrook so I know. And he's going to play big minutes. And Drummond. No comments. He was in my team last year. I know him. Seth is the only guy I trust, but they already have Mills so what does it matter? |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 4:28pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
steady986:Lol. Which men? AD and Westbrook? Lakers gotta be feeling depressed there was no trade before the deadline. For sure, this is the greatest challenge Lebron has ever faced. If h e were younger, maybe they power through. Lets see sha |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 4:30pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
Afromentalist:Harden has that selfish genie that comes out in the playoffs. Maybe all these experiences will mature him and make him a better player. We will see. |

Khanben:Leave DeeMain with all the grammar. Imagine I walk up to DeeMain at random and I just give you heavy blow, remove one teeth and walk away DeeMain is saying he would not attack me as I strolled away. He wont even push me in the back because it would be "grossly effeminate" to do so. Of course I would do the same next week, remove another teeth, then turn my back and run . Dey blow grammar dey go |

| Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 5:10pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
birdman:Lol. Not Lakers o. There are just 2 or 3 teams in the east I can say are genuine contenders. Bucks and Sixers now. The Nets can maybe push too and the Heat are dark horses. But anyone of them that makes it to the finals is falling to the Suns. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 5:27pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
steady986:I see what you are saying. I meant the East does not have any clear favorite, so its going to be a dogfight, and anyone can come out of the east. In the west, its suns or warriors obviously. |

Seriously, the coaching Monty is doing at Phoenix is extraordinary. I really enjoy watching a coach who jettisons this idea of a specific system and keeps everything on the table. Yesterday, because of the Bucks lack of size, he just went basic and fed the big man whenever there was a size mismatch, and it was devastatingly effective. I really wonder why it took this long for him to get another shot at becoming a head coach, because the dude can coach basketball |

| Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 11:57pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
Roland17:Assinn, it was little adjustments like that, that make great coaching. Another thing, the suns are one of the few teams that actually run set plays on a regular. The league just has too many teams, who as soon as they are anywhere near the 3pt line, whoever catches it just Jack's up a three, even with loads of time on the shot clock. |

DeeMain:You dey yarn absolute dust. Whether a flop or whether poor equillibrium is not germane to the argument. Nobody cares Effeminate? You don't know nada. If you like enter street bump and hit person then instead of apologizing you do the universal sign of disrespect and you turn your back on another grown man, If you don't get knocked spark out make I know wetin cause am. Since you consider them that less of a threat it would be good if they shocked you Jokic's reaction was purely on impulse and in the heat of the moment. Don't act like he intended to kill him. |
