if Yoruba leave kwara there will be nothing left to call state. Out of 16 LGA Yoruba has 14.

While I get your point, I think the LGs that are actually Yoruba are 12.

Let me help:

1. Kaiama, Barutein, Patigi, and Edu are the only non_Yoruba LGs. And these 4 LGs comprise of Baruba/Bokobaru and Nupes/Tapa people.

2. The language of commerce in these 4 non-Yoruba LGs is Yoruba. I.e Most people in these LGs speak Yoruba in their markets/trading. So, a major number of people from these places generally understand Yoruba than Hausa.

3. Geographically, Kwara, like Benue and Kogi, is not in the North. It is political, not geographical.
a. Look at the Nigerian map again
b. Look at the crops and landscape
c. The reason the FCT was taken to Abuja was because it was central in the Nigerian map. Southerners have successfully seceeded that region to the Noth by repeatedly calling it North.
d. These states are south of the Niger

4. Aregbesola is not more Yoruba than Saraki, nor is Akeredolu more Yoruba than Dino Melaye.

5. Etc

Please bring back our history to the classrooms.

Again thank you for helping to correct the ignorance on this thread.

It shows how much of ourselves we know little about, and it is the ignoramuses that speak with such authority and confidence.

They are geographically placed in the north but Kwara is predominantly yoruba speaking and the Okun (Kabba) people of Kogi are Yorubas.

Geographically they are placed in the Western Region. Look up the map. Politically smuggled into the north.

according to Wikipedia. Can you find any local government area owned by Fulani here? Fulanis are minority in ilorin central they’re not even up to 5 percent of the population.
What? Some of you open mouth waa. Are you aware many of us did our NYSC in Kwara state? Let me even break it down so that people understand the make up of Kwara state and not get deceived. Kwara has there senatorial zones.
1. Kwara Central
2. Kwara North
3. Kwara South.

In the real sense, the true Yoruba enclave is Kwara south. Why? No much blood mixture. And here, you get to see strong Yoruba culture in dressing, festivals and outlook.

For Kwara north, it's dominated by the Baruba and Nupe tribes with Edu LGA the biggest in the whole of Kwara followed by Baruten. Edu by right is a Nupe LGA while Baruten is Baruba. Although they are pockets of Yoruba villages here especially in Edu LGA, but they are surrounded by the Nupe & Baruba tribes.

For Kwara central, it's a fusion of many ethnic groups like the Fulani, Hausa, Yoruba, Nupe, Baruba and Kanuri. This is where the problem lies. While Kwara central in reality should be called a Yoruba enclave thanks to the language, the people themselves align with the north. The only celebrated festival here is the typical Islamic occasion like Salah. You will see someone bearing Abdullahi Adekunle Hakeem and you ask if he's Yoruba, dude will gladly warn you not to call him a Yoruba but Fulani. Dude will tell you that his great grandfather is Fulani or Kanuri who migrated from Katsina or Borno and so has no business being called Yoruba. The only time they claim Yoruba is when they migrate to the SW inorder to partake in the largesse of the Yoruba rights like Agbero, Omonile, Alfa, but the moment they return back home you go fear them. Infact at home in Ilorin, there is no difference between them and the typical Aboki in dressing, outlook and attitude. In Ilorin, they attend madrasas, wash prick like Aboki, greet like Aboki and act like Aboki. The only difference is that while Aboki speaks Hausa and eats Tuwo, these ones speak Yoruba and eat Amala grin.

However still in the outskirts of Ilorin, like Oke Oyi you see true indigenes with pure Yoruba ancestry. They fall under Asa LGA, and Ilorin East both under Kwara central. But the problem is that their position in Ilorin township has killed every form of identifying as Yorubas. These ones are at the mercy of the Fulani with their Balogun stool in the Emir’s palace.

Because you want to deceive people with lies. Oga I lived in Ilorin for 3 years after NYSC and worked in the KWHA. Who will folks believe? You who have never stepped foot in Ilorin or those of us with the opportunity to meet true Ilorin indigenes, both locals and politicians alike.

The Fulani have taken over the forests in Yorubaland and the entire South. Prayers won't solve the problem.

Yoruba is the major tribe, and language of Nigeria. Also the most popular.
Even most Igbos speak Yoruba. Yoruba should be the official second language of Nigeria.
Without sentiment, if another language should be made a second language, it should be Hausa.
After English and pidgin, Hausa is the most spoken language in Nigeria.

How would you say most Igbo’s, do you know what most means.
You know there are more Igbo’s in the North than there are Igbo’s in the SW.
So the Igbo’s in the North and east also speak Yoruba?

You seem reasonable out of some dolts that mentioned me. So,
the point is if there are Yorubas in Kwara and Kogi; rather it is if these two places are Yoruba lands.
Are there no Yorubas who have been living in the USA for a very long time? Does that make the USA a Yoruba land? The answer is no.
How then can Yorubas go to another person's land and start imposing their language and culture in the name of promoting their language?
That's the same thing Yorubas opposed vehemently when they stated that Fulanis in the SW are all immigrants and as such, don't have the right to demand for their culture and tradition to be practised in SW; same way they also opposed the 'Eze' title of the Igbos in SW.

Stop this abeg. Your post reeks of too much envy and bad belle.

The Yorubas in those states are not immigrants. They are very well in their ancestral lands where their ancestors and forefathers were buried.

That for administrative and political reasons they are bounded with other tribes in the name of state creation does not make them foreigners or land grabbers. The land space on God's own earth belonging to the Yoruba race is a vast continuum; we know where it starts and where it stops. Who is in and who is out.

Make yoruba matter no give you hbp. Rest in Jesus name.

A welcome development , however you can't change the fact that the new generation are adapted to foreign ways of life already. It cant change.
Yoruba culture values respect, but respect hasnt given the youths of now anything good.
What we have is a world whereby youths cannot express their intelligence, their prowess , their talents and so on because of respecting their elders.
Parents are planning what the deem fit for the youths never sittng them Down to ask what they wan from them.
Are African parents supportive of their kids.
If we all speak yoruba and there is no meaningful development or progress what is now wrong?
It I a matter of character and attitude that needs to be checked.many youths have done the wishes of their parents for soon long and have been surpressed and oppressed not being able to express themselves the way they at suppose to in the name o respect.
We may look at the white peoples culture, language as rude, but they keep making progress .what is now wrong
Its a fact.
On a negative note , most yoruba language we see on the media promote vulgarity, cursing swearing and ritual killings.
Culturally, lets be sincere, if we want to promote culture, it won't work still.
Why? The enviroment we are in is just too backwards for development.
This is because any towns, villages or so where traditional gods and goddesses are worshipped, it always brings backwardness.
Idolatry brings no development .
Check all the backward villages and town today and you would discover they are serving traditional gods and goddesses.
There is always no development in such areas I tell you this shockinf truth

The problems highlighted have nothing to do with the language but with ignorance and maybe poverty which is rife all over Africa. These things are not peculiar to the Yoruba people nor to Nigeria as a whole.

Many Asian and European countries teach and converse officially in their own language and many of their citizen who desire to speak English will have to pay to be taught.

By all means, we must promote and establish the Yoruba language. German, French, Mandarin, Russian etc are not superior to Yoruba language or any African language for that matter because they are been spoken by white people.

Kwara State has 80% Yoruba people and few minorities groups whom will prefer to be associated with Yoruba than FULANi, while the remaining are Hausa, Fulani and the Nyamiri from the East.

Kwara only part of Northern region due to Geo-political zone for administration conveniences by the military regime.

Kwara is part of the Western Region untill 1966 Igbo Military Coup.

Also, part of Kogi belongs to Kwara untill 1990s.

You're not a Yoruba man, so your intelligence and intellect would be too low to grasp this. If you have any such ideas as you're giving, why not give them to the elders of your tribe to profit by. Yorubas neither need counsel nor consultancy from primitive and yet-evolving tribes.

you are comparing Asian and European culture to ours when they have developed since and are even paying to learn English language.do you not get that it is because it is a marketable language also .
what am implying here is our culture is not poor, but some of our traditions have contributed to poverty. simple.
our culture and traditions in some aspects have contributed to poverty.
we cant move forward only with speaking our language...This is what am telling you here. poverty is not determined only by not speaking a language, It is a state of the mind and also some aspects of tradition that is backward entirely.
There are some languages spoken that doesn't also bring progress or some race that if you don't break from their culture and traditions you cant succeed
you know African culture and tradition, the foundation is mainly Idolatry which brings backwardness.

what has yoruba done solely to bring development to their TRIBE?? minus their Language then you will understand where iam coming from!
