1) With Maguire’s current form he should not be a starter and that already is enough grounds to lose the captaincy. Most of the fans at home and even in the stands do not believe in him.

2) The reports are that he is the one leaking team news to his journalist friends. It may or may not be true but at this point it appears many players believe it and he has lost their respect.

3) He rarely takes real responsibility for his mistakes and is always pointing fingers. Like recently when he caused one goal conceded and cancelled the other goal by being offside, yet post-match he was focusing one us not scoring more than one goal I.e he was trying to blame the attack in order to deflect the attention from his own mistakes.

In summary he is an off-form player with no sense of responsibility who has lost both the belief of the fans and the trust of the players, and who is an alleged snitch.

I wonder why people don’t want him to be captain.
