The Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola has lost his Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesha East to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the ongoing primary election of All Progressives Congress(APC).

Aregbesola was absent to vote at the ward during the exercise.

The leader of loyalists of Aregbesola at Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesha East, Saheed Adegoke confirmed to newsmen the Minister was not around to vote.

“He told us that he had an assignment from the President,” he stated.

He said at the end of the exercise, the anointed aspirant of Aregbesola, Moshood Adeoti, garnered 146 votes while Governor Oyetola polled 309.

Aregbesola and many other former governors always think they have the same power in and outside the office. Aregbesola is far more popular in Osun than Oyetola as a person but not when the later is still in office.

Helped by PDP guys.
PDP are in control of APC.
I don't think Omisore will leave APC where he is a godfather to Oyetola. He takes whatever Omisore throws at him. I wouldn't be surprised if Omisore choose his running mate.

If I am PDP right now in Osun state, I will not accept Aregbe because that will be an automatic win for Oyetola because Osun people will vote the sentiment of Aregbe trying to lord over Oyetola like Edo people did for Obaseki against Oshiomole.

Aregbe currently is overrated in Osun, he has lost most of his goodwill and he’s now a political orphan judging at recent events.

Go and take public opinion and you’ll understand Aregbesola is finished.

Aregbesola and many other former governors always think they have the same power in and outside the office. Aregbesola is far more popular in Osun than Oyetola as a person but not when the later is still in office.

The reason being that most governors use their leverage to corner the main groups and unions in their states while in office. Groups like NURTW, Artisans union, NATA, Market unions even NLC etc are easily bought over by sitting governors through their excos.

Poverty also plays a part as cash and other gifts are used to induce rural voters who are easily accessible through the councilors and LG chairs.

That's why you see the first thing any governor does when they resume is to truncate the existing LG structure in their states.

My brother whatever they lost in Alfa Aregbe, they gain more and better in Omisore. Aregbe is a paper weight in Osun politics, he just overrated himself.
