Today I got a shocker from URI graduate school that my Msc does not meet the minimum graduate requirement of a 3.0. Hence, they will be overriding my supervisor and sending me a PhD rejection letter. After some back and forth, the graduate school's decision stands.

It is laughable because I am applying with a French grade of 14.3/20.
In all universities in Canada and the USA where international grade equivalencies is visible on their websites, a 14/20 grade is at least an A- or a 3.7. Even for WES and Scholaro, it is a perfect 4.0. I understand it is done course by course, but there is no way it will be less than a 3.0.

https://www.scholaro.com/grade-conversion/

My advice: once a school say credential evaluation is recommended. Please do it before applying. Only God knows what parameters was used for their own conversion. Maybe they don't understand French grades and just used a percentage or something because it is just funny to me.

It is the only school I applied to because I was sure of getting in after discussing with the supervisor.

Anyone with advice on schools for MSc Food Science for Spring intake that doesn't require GRE or IELTS? I don't think I'll apply for PhD again after being told to expect spending 6 years.

Perfect 4.0 is not possible on WES. Your grades were not that good as you have painted it. In-house evaluation is complicated since they are not exposed to as much academic credentials so I advise you do the WES. You will get less than 3.6 on WES.

For in house evaluation, your grade will be subjected to percentage evaluation. You need at least 87% for 3.0 GPA. Your GPA is only 75%

Dear sir, you should totally get your degree evaluated by WES. Most internal evaluation done by US universities are not favorable to international students. I honestly don’t know the criteria they use.

Besides, the actual evaluation increases your cgpa. That 3.6 Unofficial gpa will increase to either a 3.7 or 3.8

This is not True. Evaluation is course by course.

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by ahmedbelloadams: 9:08pm On Feb 22, 2022
Moshkom thank you:

BELOW IS BASICALLY THE ENTIRE PROCESS IN SUMMARY:

Step 1

Research for schools that suit your profile perfectly in terms of programs they offer , requirements for admission and funding opportunities .

Step 2

Contact the *Graduate Coordinator* telling him why you are interested in the school. You're to introduce yourself talking about your name, Country, Course of Study, GPA, plans for GRE and TOEFL, Research Interests, publication and also why you like his research interests. Conclude the mail by inquiring if there are funding opportunities for your intended program.

Step 3

Prepare for GRE/TOEFL/GMAT (depending on the program requirements)

Step 4
Apply to the schools you choose ( Some schools requires you to apply for funding as you submit your application, some give automatic funding while some requires you to apply for funding *only* after admission offer)

Step 5
Request for your I20
The I20 is the most important Visa document which displays relevant information about your program, cost and funding.

Step 6

Process your SEVIS (fmjfee.com). The SEVIS is a compulsory fee which must be paid before Visa Interview.

Step 7
Apply for Visa.
This requires intense preparation because you're going to be drilled by the Visa Officers.

Step 8
Pay for your flight and fly.

Hello! Pls I was accepted into Texas Tech University for undergraduate study and required to submit proof of funding (about $40,808). My issue is whether I should convert using the bank rate or the black market rate. Despite the fact that the black market rate is ridiculously high (about 23 million) and the bank rate is around 17 million. I'm not sure if any of this will have an impact on my visa interview.
Thank you.

Please how do I get proof of funds? Any help?

Hello my good people,

Please, I need your help!

My son has gotten admission into University of Maryland Baltimore County for fall 2022. First degree
With 12k scholarship.

I am in the process of sending documents to the school to get his I20 but now that getting interview dates is so difficult, my question now is do I wait to to get the I20 before scheduling interview date or I can pay the visa fee, schedule appointment while waiting for the I20?

At what point do I need to pay the SEVIS fee? Is it required to schedule appointment?

Your Son's application can actually be changed from Visit (B1/B2) to F1 as they are the same fee. I am in the same situation as well. He cant have an appointment for both visit and student visas. You will have to switch his application to F1 but there is a catch. Is his application linked to yours as a dependant on your profile or does he have a separate profile apart from yours/the family?
That's where the challenge lies.

Please, any suggestions will highly be appreciated. I just want to do everything on time for him to have his interview before school resumes in fall.

Also, we are frequent travelers and already paid Visa fee for visit visa since last year.

Can he use the same receipt for F1 visa or he has to get another one?
Thanks

He can still use the receipt for the B1/B2 for the F1. You will need to update his !-20 and change his application to F1. Meanwhile, is he applying as a dependant of yours or does he have his own personal profile? If his application is linked to your profile, that's where the challenge may be. I am in the same boat with my son as well.

If you have already been granted EA then you have to choose a date before the deadline. Since you're not the only one applying and the date has changed, pick one then request for an extension letter from your school (I just pray your school is not coconut head.....) But just do this

Best of luck

The notion that your score goes up with WES is not true. Evaluation is course by course. It completely depends on your grades when evaluated. While it may have increased your GPA, it did reduced others GPA.

The guy said he used WES unofficial calculator and had 3.6. I told him to evaluate his transcript and that the official evaluation will increase.

I never said his gpa will increase or decrease. Generally , whatever you get from the calculator increases after official evaluation.

Visa Delayed- December 2021
Embassy Location- Abuja
COA- 31k
No Funding
Sponsor- Mum and husband

I’m married and applied with my 2 years old daughter(F2) for MsED in Educational administration as I have been working as a school administrator since I graduated in 2014 in my family owned school and my mum is retiring shortly and I will be fully in charge of the school hence the reason for my masters degree as my first degree is BSc Economics.
My daughter was crying so I was given priority and asked to leave the queue and sent straight to the Black female VO.

Interview
Black young female VO
VO: Goodmorning
Me: Hi, Goodmorning
VO: Tell me about your plans
Baby was uneasy and restless so I was trying to pacify her by shaking her on my shoulder while responding.
Me: I’m going to graduate school for my masters in Educational administration.
VO: What is the duration of your programme?
Me: 24months
VO: Continues typing then asked why this course.
Me: Im working as a school administrator in my family owned school so this will help me acquire necessary skills and knowledge required to effectively manage and administer a school as I will be taking over management of the school once Mum retires in a few years.
VO: What did you study in your first degree?
Me: Economics
VO: who is sponsoring you?
Me: My Mum will cover my tuition while my husband will cover I and my daughter’s living expenses.
VO: What do they do?
Me: My Mum is the Proprietress of the school I currently work while my husband is an auto dealer, he is into import and sales of cars here in Nigeria.
VO: Where will you be staying for the duration of your programme?
Me: Meadows Estate at bleep- it’s a school recognized off campus.
VO: Have you made arrangements for your daughter’s care?
Me: Yes, she will be cared for at child center daycare while I attend lectures.
VO: What’s the population of the school you work?
Me: Student population of roughly 959, staff strength of 36 academic and 22 non academic staffs.
VO: Your husbands business what year did he start?
Me: 2015
VO continues typing for awhile then picks the blue slip and handed over to me with my passport and i20
Me: Is there anything you would have needed more clarification on as you saw I was a bit distracted and unsettled with my baby crying and me trying to pacify her and answering you in between.
VO responds it’s all in the blue slip, you can reapply at a later date.

Gurus in the house, please I need advice as to what went wrong. I already deferred my admission to Fall semester and would be reapplying. I would appreciate suggestions on how to improve my application next time.
And also if I’m asked what has changed since my last application, any suggestions on what to say because I haven’t changed my sponsors or my school.
