Such a sad sight to watch. Qualifying your nation for the AWCON and immediately held hostage for over 4 hours upon arrival to your own country. Ordega's Instagram story was such a sad sight. The men's team wouldn't have been treated that way. |

lovewins:I blame the NFF, a call to the Minister should have resolved it, because they could have asked them to quarantine at worst and then take the test the following day rather than lock them up at the airport. |

dkay51:There's a bigger issue here, it's the COVID corruption. Sadly many are getting rich under the guise of COVID and that's what is at the centre of the matter. The problem wasn't the test as the girls were COVID tested less than 24 hours before their arrival. The officials of the NCDC were apparently asking to be paid for another test (even of the test isn't carried out). Collin Udoh also share similar experience weeks ago. He was forced to pay for a test he didn't need cause the NCDC requested it. Sadly he had to visit another African nation before the scheduled day for his test and asked for the test to be moved till his return back to the country so he doesn't have to pay again. They refused. Point is, some persons are getting rich and Nigerians sadly are the victim |

lovewins:Oh I get the one you're referring to now, its the test after arrival they make you pay for a Day 2 and Day 6 (if not fully vaccinated) after arrival, I had the same experience late last year but as a naija guy I sha didnt pay shishi when I know I'm fully vaccinated. Still I'm sure the NFF was aware of this, they should have gotten a waiver ahead if they knew they didnt want to pay for that, you cant embarrass your players this way. |

solonnachi:While this was a sad experience, I really do not think it was that extreme. Of course this could have been handled a lot better, but there are stricter COVID rules in most nations in the west. Hoping the ladies can put this behind them and trusting this won't repeat itself. |

It's a day that I will treasure’ - Christy Ucheibe revels in Super Falcons debut. Christy Ucheibe finally made her senior debut for Nigeria in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Cote d'Ivoire in Abidjan. The 21-year-old, who represented Nigeria at the 2014 U17 and 2018 U20 Women's World Cups, saw the final 25 minutes as the Super Falcons completed the double over the Ivorians with a 3-0 aggregate win to qualify for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations. After the win at Stade Robert Champroux, the midfielder said she was pleased to have had the opportunity to make a winning first appearance and she will always treasure the day she turned out for the senior team for the first time. “It felt really great and I think it was really important to get some minutes and it was really amazing to feature at the senior level, it was really important to get this feeling,” Ucheibe told SportNewsAfrica. “Well, it was an unbelievable feeling, and it is an emotional day for me, playing for the senior, it was really special and I was looking forward to it and today is the day that I will treasure because we also got the result we wanted to qualify for AWCON." The midfielder, who is on the brink of securing her second Portuguese title with SL Benfica is hopeful of a more successful outing ahead in the future campaigns with the Super Falcons. On the victory over the lady Elephants, she said: “It was a physical game, and we tried to cope up with the physicality, we did our very best to keep a clean sheet and get the winning goal in the end to qualify." "It is the qualifying tournament, so we still have a lot of time to work out on the areas that we have to work on and I am sure that at the main competition we will do even much better.” Nigeria are nine-time African champions and will make their 12th successive appearance in Morocco, where they will be eyeing their 10th crown and also the ninth Women's World Cup berth. |

The Ivorians gave us a horrid treatment... Information from the media officer stated that some of the Nigeria fans where lucky to get in quick, while the rest where locked outside.. They were not allowed in...

Schemerkhiz:....do you have a real highlight of the game, how does a senior national team play a match in 2022 and no one has a highlight or full game to watch. It is really unbelievable, it shows most in NFF are just about money and what they can get and not national pride. South African streamed both games live(home and away). |
