Clashes follow strikes on bridges, schools and apartment buildings, as Russian forces mount an assault on Kyiv. Street fighting has broken out in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, as Russian forces advanced on the city and Ukrainian officials urged residents to take shelter. As dawn broke in Kyiv on Saturday, it was not immediately clear how far the soldiers had advanced. Ukrainian officials reported success in fending off assaults, but fighting persisted near the capital. Skirmishes reported on the edge of the city of nearly three million people suggested that small Russian units were probing Ukrainian defences to clear a path for the main forces. Saturday marked the third day of a massive land, sea and air invasion ordered by President Vladimir Putin in what turned out to be Russia’s biggest military deployment since World War II and has resulted in hundreds of casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused an American offer for him to evacuate, insisting that he would stay in Kyiv. “The fight is here,” he said on Saturday. Saturday marked the third day of a massive land, sea and air invasion ordered by President Vladimir Putin in what turned out to be Russia’s biggest military deployment since World War II and has resulted in hundreds of casualties. As of 6am, 35 people were wounded, including two children. I ask everyone to keep calm, and stay in shelters. The enemy will attack from the air.” The street clashes followed Russian strikes that pummelled bridges, schools and apartment buildings. A missile that struck a residential building in Kyiv on Saturday did not kill anyone, an adviser to the interior minister said. Anton Herashchenko also said Russia was lying about not shelling civilian infrastructure. According to the adviser, at least 40 such sites had been hit and Russian troops were shelling civilian sites. Lessons from the Ukraine-Russia conflict : (1) The Biafrans defended themselves for 3 years (2) At no time did Ojukwu plead with the Nigerian forces to sit down to negeotiate during the early or later years of the conflict . (3) The resilience of the Igbo man is worthy of note . (4) the Biafrans didn’t have anywhere to run to but to stay and fight to live or die in defence of their existence and their motherland . (5) As the first bombs were dropped in Ukraine the people were all escaping to Poland and other neighboring countries . Ukraine with the weapons and financial assistance it got from the US is already pleading for truce . Zelensky will soon be captured and taken to prison in Moscow . The javelin anti tank weapons recently delivered to Ukraine Army by the US have not destroyed a Russian tank. The US just sent 650M dollars worth of defensive weapons to Ukraine. No foreign aid be it financial or military were obtained by Biafra in the three years that the war lasted . More lessons from the war coming . Biafra was a landlocked country . They were attacked from land , sea and air by the Nigerian forces . There was food and aid blockade by the Nigerian forces in order to inflict maximum damage on the psyche of the Biafrans and which added to the mounting casualties occasioned by the spread of malnourishment related diseases . (6) No anti war protests were held in any part of Nigeria for the three years that the war lasted. It was clearly a genocide to wipe out the igbo people of Eastern Region .
