In truth, aside China, US and Russia, no nation of the world is truly independent.

UK heavily rely on the US to make a strategic move. For example, UK chicken out immediately US said she isn't sending troops to Ukraine. France is just there because she was part of the Alliance side that wins the WWII. She is just a follow-follow guy. Germany still bears the burden of the WWII put on her by the victors of the war.

If the pipeline POS2 is finished then Russia total supply to China will be 50% of what Russia supply to EU.
China want to stop oil shipments by tankers in case of war.

It is simplistic to think of sanction as an on or off button for behavioural change.
Not even threats of invasion or actual invasion carry such power as Putin just learnt.

Sanctions systematically inflicts pain on the target they may not be willing to endure for their initial goals.

Sanctions help brought down the Apartheid government.
Many military regimes have been forced to reorganize due to pressure from sanctions.

Since sanctions are hardly lifted until the target effect some changes, then they
mostly achieve their objectives.

If collective economic sanctions were invented much earlier, we would have had fewer wars in human history.

I will seriously advice china to behave herself in this matter. last time i checked, the US has been looking for all means to bring her manufacturing back to home soil.

You talk as if they have no consequences for the imposer

Simply give us one example where they have worked in the past

Sanctions cannot work against a country as big as Russia and if they appear to be working there could ne a desperate resort to nuclear war

You are the one being simplistic

Russian economy facing crippling sanction could go rogue but it is very unlikely to be crippled because the coercive military element of blockades and such like cannot be used . Russia can shoot down planes and Russia can literally destroy Europe militarily they will not go down alone in slow motion
