I am not against women right but worth am against is women trying to have the same right as men. They want this same right but not the same responsibility as men or the same men work. If I am Buhari I will give them their right and impose the same responsibility men does. I will withdraw half of the men fighting boko haram and replace it with women. Make all job hard or soft equal to all gender. Therefore if men dey carry 10 bag of cement, women go carry the same. If men dey dig dig 10 feet septic tank women go do same . All hard job men does women must have equal opportunity to do it

You call this irrelevant? No wonder Nigeria is this backward. Women make up about half of our population. I suspect you to be one of the northern fanatics who treat women like rags
Yes, it is irrelevant.

No one stops them from contesting for anything....why sit back and expect to be handed favours yet scream equality

You want a seat in senate or politics....contest for it like your male counterparts. That's equality.

Bills 1 & 2 should be reviewed because they are inherently denying women what is due to them and they're discriminatory.

After all what's good for the goose, they say, is good for the gander.

However the remaining requests/demands are unlikely to fly.

Women in Nigeria can strive for and attain any position(s) if they can form a common front.

They have the numerical strength to do just that.

Alas, if wishes were horses, beggars, they say, would ride.

There's no free meal in Freetown!

This idea of just demanding positions pro bono without creating avenues through concerted efforts smacks off laziness.

The political terrain is a different ball game altogether.

Na who work dey chop o.

If you want it, you got to go for it!

You and the protesting women are living in the 60s.
Special seats in the national assembly are not reserved for women anywhere in the world.
Women who are interested in governance should compete with their male counterparts.
Which state will agree to limit their seat to only women?

Sometimes I really don't understand what women want. How can you be clamoring for special seats in parties and compulsory allocation of seats in national assembly and yet be asking for equality. The mere fact that you want a special place is discrimination against women, there should be a level playing field and women should compete there as well.
There are as much women as men in this country and the women should channel their energy to mobilize themselves to vote for themselves why bothering the national assembly to be giving u preferential treatment in elections. I suspect this is being sponsored by some top women who wants to benefit through special seat allocation for women and don't want much competition.

True feminism demands true equality, not automatic seats for women. Let us women start supporting ourselves instead of begging men to give us seats! Let's start unseating them, let's go all out and participate more in elective politics!

Is there a difference between gender chauvinism amd ethnic bigotry?

On to your point, if women make up over half of rhe country then why on earth do they need affirmative action??

Has the majority stopped carrying the vote?
You talk as if you're not a Nigerian. Where were you when Hon Olubunmi Etteh was removed on the account of an offence she never committed just to deny her that role in the house, just because Northern Muslims weren't comfortable seeing a woman as their head? After delaying the judgement tactically, the court now ruled that she was removed in error but the deed had even done. A man had taken over.

Last year, Isa pantami disgraced abike dabiri and shut their office used as the diaspora commision office, just because she's a woman. The same pantami blocked buhari from shaking hands with remi tinubu. Until we remove religious bigotry from leadership and politics, this country would keep remaining in one position. Women have occupied great positions in the world and performed more than men.

Women have always participated in politics but men keep blocking their way. Only the stubbotn few and children of the elites always have their way. It shouldn't be

You still don't make sense.

No one will automatically give women seats. All the female senators were not awarded special seats. They won these seats.

Being a woman is not a qualification, the want for equality must be matched with equal work done ,the idea that certain privileges must be given to you because you are woman does not seem right. Political parties already have the position of woman leader reserved for women.

Can they add to the constitution for Senate seats and house of representatives seats should be only 2 terms like the executive arm of government. Let it not be the sole right of some persons to be there till death.

There is no misogynistic or patriarchy anywhere. You go to your local government zone, you notify with them, gather youth around and motivate them. Empower young girls too.
Run politics like your normal male counterpart does.
All these protests for easier and emotional way to support laziness will never be allowed in this Nigeria.
You won't contest for anything, you won't campaign for anything, but will carry placard dey protest rubbish. You want to use emotional blackmail to govern a country??
Till now, Ukrainian women never protest why Ukrainian government no wan include them for war rather them dey drag train with little kids to escape the neighboring countries.

It's so unfair for us women but again what are the contributions of women in the society that should merit them all these.

We only fight to reap where we didn't sow, with no contribution at all. our women should wake up and work as men.
thank you

Ok if they passed the bill which Senatorial or Federal representative contituency will now be made to project only women so as to Carter for the women percentage??

Your number 2 is incorrect.
The current House of Assembly member representing Ado constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly is an Ibo woman from Anambra (I think). She married someone from Ado (A former CJ of plateau State). The woman was a Vice chairman of the same LGA before she was elected to the state Assembly when it was the turn of her husband's region.
