No medications.... see his nose like a blown up balloon... sound changes as you adjust the mouth while letting the air out. Photo on page 1 with strip... use a clothes pin to pinch his nose and reduce the sound.

Go to bed before him, by the time he starts you are already fast asleep.

This was how I survived it when I was sleeping with someone whose deep snoring is similar to the horn of a train.
Most nights I struggled to sleep before him. However, If he manages to sleep before me, I'd have to put on an earpiece connected to a loud music player to block my hearing.

These are the steps to take for chronic snorers
1. No heavy meal after 4pm. If he must eat after 4 then he should go on fruits, tea, salad, soup. He must not do any form of carbohydrates or refined sugars after 4

2. Sleep on his left side

3. Bitter kola & Tom Tom. Clears mucus along the airway.

4. If he tries these and symptoms persist then he should see a specialist. ENT(Ear, nose & throat)
Chef2000:
There is this roommate of mine and a friend who snores heavily during his sleep.

This is not that normal snoring we experience the one I am talking about is heavy and seems like life is chocking out of him, the snore is heavy that someone living 3 doors away will hear him snoring with ease.

And this snore will begin exactly 30 mins in his sleep it may occasionally stop and then begins again, he doesn't get to hear it because he is fast asleep but it's disturbing me and makes my night restless.

He has talked with one doctor and he gave him some drugs but it didn't work.

Please is there anyone here with a useful information like the drugs he will take or something like that, lets join hands and save a soul.

Could be sleep apnea. They may need to see a doctor and also need a CPAP machine for a fix and all that.

Ask your friend to go check himself for an enlarged adenoid and tonsils. It causes snoring in sleeping

This was what an ENT doctor told me today during our discussion. He called it - uvulopalatopharyngoplasty.

He said it requires surgery to reduce the tonsil size but he always recommends that if the snoring doesn't affect the person in a dangerous way, he should not bother with surgery. He recommends the person to sleep face down or by his side.

wow! You are the only one with the correct explanation. Tonsils grow and obstruct free flow of oxygen. Please see a doctor for the right antibiotics.

The guy is suffering from an Obstructive Sleep Apnea. To treat it, he need to go for a sleep test at the sleep lab. Base on this, the doctor will recommend a CPAP machine for him which is quite expensive. I experienced it in Nigeria when everybody was running away from.me at night got treated when I got to the US. My CPAP machine is $3300.
Abeg convert it to Naira.

I am just like that before I left Nigeria.
I used to be ashamed of myself when people have to wake me up, sometime they wake me up and started to laugh at my job , bus and airplane.
One of the guy at my job advised me to seek medical help because I told them i have google all kind of shit to stop it but it get worse day by day.
Boom, I went to see my doctor and explained to her all my predicament, she recommended me for a sleep study that dicclose i have a sleep apnea that could lead to death.
My sleep titration show i will be a good patient to use CPAP machine after a night of titration. My insurance pick up the bill for the CPAP machine and it was receive 15 days after I signed for it online.
Today am enjoying my sleep with no snoring but i got to kit up all night making sure i clean my machine out to avoid inhaling bad air that could lead to bronchitis

I’ve observed that when if he spoons and raise his head against mine he won’t snore but if he is really tired he will snore mostly common for those who bend their head down while sleeping always keep your head midlevel with the pillow in the center or close to. Not close to the edge

Most people snore just that some do it louder.

Solution:

Sleep on your side with elevated pillows.

It reduces snoring drastically and could even stop it.

This is a clear case of sleep apnea. You will do well to ask them to see a Doctor who should recommend a sleep test in order to have a conclusive diagnosis. Ultimately the treatment is a sleep machine. The link attached should help.

Snoring can be caused by a number of factors, such as the anatomy of your mouth and sinuses, alcohol consumption, allergies, a cold, and your weight. When you doze off and progress from a light sleep to a deep sleep, the muscles in the roof of your mouth (soft palate), tongue and throat relax.

Recommendations;
Exercise
Reduce allergies
Reduce alcoholic consumption ;especially before bedtime.

Once you are the type that sleep with your mouth open then there is tendency of snoring.
Let him try to close mouth on sleep.

I'm not sure it's always that. For some people, it's hereditary.
