Guys, don't allow this whole system and how it works break you down. As much as possible, look for things that can keep you busy and make you happy while also backing it up with prayers. The God that started the journey will perfect it... This is the sign you need to know that everything will be fine smiley smiley

Thanks a lot. but its depressing knowing that i still have about a year more to go.

SmartJac:
Aaaw am so happy for you, the next step is to wait for response from NVC saying your case has been received and after that, you Might wait for about 12-13 months before your case will be shipped to US embassy in Nigeria. Reason for the 13 months wait is that us embassy has about 1 year backlog. They just shipped January 2021 cases from NVC Tuesday (two days ago). The basic thing is that you have been approved

Yes you can transfer you case to another embassy. But it involve alot of process.
1. You can transfer when you reach NVC stage
2. You must contact the. Embassy you wish to transfer to, to know if they will take up your case.
3. If yes, then write to NVC to transfer you case.
Note: you can check this immigration lawyer page on YouTube to have more knowledge on it Jacob J. Sapochnick. He talked extensively on it.

something popped up my mind, thinking if Benin Republic , Ghana or Togo would be a good option though considering the backlogs here..is there any WhatsApp groups for applicants here on Nairaland?

Any form of dowry payment will be considered as marriage

My financee visits in 6months time from now. I'm completely a novice as regards the K-1 process. We intend getting married in the US.
Please I would appreciate a guide on what I need to start doing pending when she visits. She's going to petition on my behalf after her first visit.
Are there documents I would need to start processing or some other things i need to do before she files for me?

NPC birth certificate if you were born after 1992. Otherwise, obtain NPC Attestation of Birth.

I will suggest you read the first few pages of this thread. But from my experience, you can't do anything now until she visits and you guys are able to document convincing evidence of your meeting together. You will keep record of her flight tickets, any expense you share during her visit. Most importantly take enough pictures including ones taken with your family members. Go out together and document events in pictures.

At the end of her visit, she will go back with printed copies of all pictures and other documents. Then she will attach them to the petition form she fill and send hard copy by mail to appropriate authority in US with Bank draft of the application fee. Get the full details from page one.

Any 2020 K-1 visa filer/beneficiary here? What becomes of your status when it changed to READY? How long did it take the consulate to communicate you? I'm asking this because I'm not resident in Nigeria but my interview is for Lagos . The major reason for asking is to help me calculate my travel plans to Nigeria knowing that I still have to do medicals etc.

For those waiting for K1 interview dates, check now the portal just opened and it won't be for long.

As seen in the image , I'm pondering on what next to do or expect . I have emailed the consulate but yet to get a respond.

In addendum, when transferring case you need to have a resident status in that particular country where you intend your case for transfer NOT visitor's visa.

With the joy that fills my heart now I’m glad to tell the whole house that my case status has shown in transit and the following is the mail sent to my fiancée Email on what next to be done. firstly I have filled out DS-160 form since January or February I think and I projected my expected travel date to April. My Question goes thus. Do I need to refil another DS-160 and going by the link (http://nvc.state.gov/k1) what is expected of me and where do I get information on the medical, police character & Birth certificate from ??

Congratulations to you!!! Am not sure but I think you can fill your ds160 and as well start looking out for interview dates before booking medicals and your police document required (other people who have gone before us have better knowledge of this aspect) The portal was open up on till yesterday morning but I don't know if it has closed now. Once I get updates about the portal being open, I will alert you as well.
