It may be a case of SID (SUDDEN INFANT DEATH)
Or maybe the child was forced fed on he choked
I lost my son (6 mths) in similar circumstances 5yrs ago
We later learnt that the nanny in my late son's school was force feeding him
An autopsy revealed stuck food particles in his windpipe

Let them take heart, God will console them

She’s heartless cos she needs to pay her bills?

I’m convinced many of you commenting here don’t even know what it takes to survive in today’s world.
Which one would you chose paying bills or endangering the life of your kids.. Does this means She won’t survive if she stays out of the job for few months to raise the child . What if she got sack along the line won’t she survive? I have co-workers that gave birth , this is Lagos o, with the work stress and transportation hustle, those who could not stay out of job for too long improvised by inviting an elderly woman from their family to care for the baby, and was given 5hrs working hour for 6months. If u don’t have cordial relationship with anyone in your family pay for nanny. Nanny is even cheaper than crèche. Abi what’s now d essence of ur work bayi

Loool expantiate further, you blame the mother for working? You blame the father for not providing enough to let the woman not work for at least 6 months? since you don't blame the system for not providing at least 6 months paid mat leave.
Who do you blame? I really want to know.

Hope you do know no mother would want to drop her 3month old baby anywhere if they could help it.

The system is not the issue. Organizations make this information available during induction programmes. The economy isn't the issue either. Buhari has been president for 7 years - What we are facing today has already been predicted a long time ago.

I believe that couples should be responsible enough to make provisions for these things. 6-12 months away from a job we love to do shouldn't cause any harm.

Proper investigation should be conducted to confirm what happen.

People should not blame the woman for dropping her baby there. If you were in her shoes you will do the same.

Should there be blame at all?

A Nigerian mum lost her three-month-old baby after leaving the child at a crèche, IGBERETV reports.

Twitter user @Lolo_cy who shared the sad story online said no one knows what happened to the baby only that the mother came back to pick her baby's dead body.

She wrote;

Pls only post a complete version of issues like this.
Was the woman called to the hospital, was the child taken to hospital for any emergency, or was the baby dead in it's sleep pls tell us something to reason with even if it's one side of the story.

No one knows what happened? This is exactly where police should be brought in.

This is negligence or worse. I have read of creches renting out babies to street beggars.

If you cannot manage the babies in your care, then you have no business running a creche.
Are you for real? Renting out people's kids to street beggars, this is scaring!

Such utter bullshiet

It’s easier for you to assume she’s a single mother because that way you can blame her entirely instead of considering that she might have a “provider” husband or partner who can’t even cover their bills hence she needs to work.

Some of you are so annoying.

“ThE moDern wOman” yen yen yen
girl spreads leg in heat or for cash or glitz, got pregnant for a random dude who denies the pregnancy or asked her to go abort it. She keeps it for religious purposes or to hook onto the dude who considers her a pastime.

She eventually had the baby without any support and needs to hustle when baby's just 3 months. That story must be familiar to you.

even if she had a deadbeat partner, it's still her fault.

3 months old baby in a crèche rests on the woman primarily.

But I know you don't like taking responsibility even for your own menses, so it has to be a man's fault that you opened your legs for an absentee sperm donor and carried the child for 9 months and still have to abandon it at a creche at 3 months to hustle.

These old Nairaland armchair blind feminist can't even smell their own anus.

Now go and ease the guikt killing her now and tell her it's the father's fault. That's if she even know who the father is.

Nigerian men are just confused and foolish he-goats.

Everything is the woman's fault in you people's dumb brains.
If she stays at home to care for her child while you provide then she is a liability. If she goes to work to provide then she is a wicked feminist that wants to rub shoulders with men.

Brainless oafs. These are the fools married women have to deal with everyday.

It's simple. People should stop paying attention to what people say because no matter what you do, people both men and women will still talk. If you drop your 3 months old baby you laboured 9 months for at a crèche because of what people say, then that's even the lamest excuse available.

Why drop a 3 months old fragile child in a crèche?
just shut up rather than this unfortunate comment... Why can't you also blame the father too since yours is to blame without empathy... The baby could have died at home self... So if the woman has work she shouldn't work cos she has a baby... Haba

I read a lot of comments on this thread and I just smh. Blaming the woman for taking her child to a creche. Humans are truly insatiable. You don't work, they term you a liability to your husband. You work, they say you want to run away from your responsibility. Smh really
they don't reason well... It's high time men or father's get paternity leave like women... For instance a woman goes her own the man can choose to go for his later to or both goes to see to their kids at home... Besides we don't even know what killed the child self... That child could still have died at home with the mum... Again those saying the woman shouldn't work are sick...

Well, maybe now that the baby has been killed by the carelessness of strangers, she should have more time for her job.

What's a 3 month old baby doing at a crèche?

Unfortunately, that's the case for many. Even 2 months old stay in creches. Maternity leave is 3 montjs and some women have to go on leave before the 3 months.

That already reduces the time she'll stay with the baby. I heard private schools give just 4 weeks mat leave. Where do you now leave your baby especially when you need the job.

Mum or MIL usually stay for one month and go back to theor lives except in some cases. Plus a lot.of people prefer dropping the babies in a crèche rather than keeping with a nanny at home that could run away with the baby.

There has to be some kind of intervention for working mums. No woman wants to leave their little babies at that time.

After nursing all your children, she can then look for a work of her choice and work for fun. Why should I marry someone who is always rushing out every morning and coming back late, taking orders from one idiot as boss? It doesn't make sense to me. I rather keep numerous baby mamas

You are still the ones that will ask what she is bringing to the table. How are you sure that she's the one that pushed for a job? Have you thought of the fact that they might need the money to support her husband?

Why are some of you guys so bias towards women, so quick to label them the fault bearer.

And what is wrong in being a career mum? There's nothing wrong with crèches. It has saved families since time immemorial. Do you know if you were kept in a crèche?

Most of you unmarried ones are the ones throwing shades like everyone's situation is a perfect one. Get married and run all yours by textbook.

Here are the facts you need to know about this unfortunate issue;

Pls stop blaming the mother of the baby. The Nigeria system has failed the little innocent baby. The fact here remains that maternity leave here in Nigeria is just 3 months. After which you might be sacked. Imagine taking a just 3 months old baby to a creche? Ahhh!! Is that reasonable to any right thing person? That is not how the system works in an advanced countries.

Then, the death of the baby must also be thoroughly investigated to avoid future reoccurrence.

Finally, it should be a standard practice henceforth that every private schools operating kindergarten, creche etc should have a CCTV cameras in their various classes.

Hopeless mothers everywhere. So what is her gain now after labouring fo 9months and she couldn't wait for just 6months to make sure the baby is matured enough to stay without the mother.

Everything is not evil spirit as we can always avoid catastrophe like this.
3month old baby, that woman will leave my house. The work she went for now , she won't be able to do , even the money she makes there will be spent be her alone in most cases.

This is a good example to other young ladies to allow their children to grow before returning to work. If the work will not allow you take care of your kids, abeg find alternative one.

The very careless and hopeless creche too also ignorantly left the poor child to die and they couldn't explain. No even in this yahoo days I can never leave any of my children to complete strangers Never.

Meanwhile, if your pick your child at the creche and there is a pattern of always sleeping abeg go straight into the class of the teacher , open her bag and see what she has been giving them.
I hope in another thread you won't start calling stay at home women liability o

There are hardworking women out there who put thier babies in creche after one month sef. This are some of the limiting factors why women are not out there making millions because they have to focus on family but you nairaland goats will still insult a stay at home mother and call her lazy for sacrificing her career to care for the home front.

Life is not always black or white, most times there are a lot of grey areas.

This situation may have nothing to do with her abandoning her baby to pursue a career.
It's could be a case of survival.

I have a cousin who left her job after she became pregnant, her husband had lost his job many years prior to this & was doing nothing.

After she gave birth, that was when her suffering started... getting money to feed herself and her other children became a problem.

She resorted to begging money to feed. Her husband could not hustle to provide for his family...he depended on this same woman.

At a point, her other children stopped going to school 'cos no money to pay school fees.

Starting a business was difficult 'cos she had a fragile baby + no money.

I'm telling you all these because when a new mom takes her fragile baby to a creche just so she can go back to work...her survival, and that of her children may actually depend on it.

Do not be quick to judge people when you have no idea what they're passing through.
