From how I programmed myself with my job 3 months salary and my rent money (3bedroom flat)is ready no stress. I earn very close to 240k and married with a child. My cousin that was transferred to Enugu I helped to secure a house a newly completed duplex where he resides with his family we decided to hangout on Sunday. From my discussion with him I found out it takes him his six months salary to secure his rent. For me it ain't funny ooo. Pls guys how long does it take for you to acquire your landlords money? It's been a while since I commented on Nairaland. This comment is for those fools justifying Yahoo boys and insulting the great Nigeria. They think Nigeria has failed because their poor parents didn't provide for them and they are wallowing in poverty. Anyway, my monthly salary is 800k plus allowances. My house rent in 450k a year - 2 bedroom flat There are so many legit ways to make money in Nigeria. I won't teach anyone anything. Go online and learn for yourself. Bounceboune7:I understand your point but it doesn't work like that everytime. So many factors will determine this. Your Location Your pay A Bank worker in Lagos on the same level/Grade as a Bank worker in Ilesa Osun state for example: They earn the same amount, let's say 300k. The one in Ilesa will get a 2 bedroom flat for about 150k per annum. The one in Lagos(let's say around Ojota/Oregun) will get the same flat with same facilities for about 600k per annum. Some people also don't mind using 3 months salary to pay rent in a case where choosing an accommodation close to workplace gives them peace of mind and significantly reduces stress. Health is Wealth you know. Overall, it can be justifiable if one has genuine reasons for going for an accommodation that gulps about 3 months salary. The person will make up for it in other areas like cutting cost on gadgets, devices, vacations, gifts, wears. Some will not even pay tithe to make up for it.
