A Bank worker in Lagos on the same level/Grade as a Bank worker in Ilesa Osun state for example:

They earn the same amount, let's say 300k.

The one in Ilesa will get a 2 bedroom flat for about 150k per annum.
The one in Lagos(let's say around Ojota/Oregun) will get the same flat with same facilities for about 600k per annum.

Some people also don't mind using 3 months salary to pay rent in a case where choosing an accommodation close to workplace gives them peace of mind and significantly reduces stress. Health is Wealth you know.

Overall, it can be justifiable if one has genuine reasons for going for an accommodation that gulps about 3 months salary. The person will make up for it in other areas like cutting cost on gadgets, devices, vacations, gifts, wears. Some will not even pay tithe to make up for it. It depends on individual.
