N75,000 Monthly Take Home Salary, How Much Should I Be Saving by JOHNFBOSCO(m): 9:55am On Jun 26, 2023
Good day Nairalanders. I Recently got this job, after several attempts of applying both online and offline. My monthly salary is average #75,000 per month, I used the word "Average" because its not static. Sometimes it could lower, as low as 60,000 and hardly surpass 90,000...so it's a commission work.

And we all know commission work is not reliable, you could be fired anytime. So please my question is, with the Nigeria standard of living, couple with the recent economic hardship, so now, the question is how much is ideal to save per month from this Salary.

To and fro from my work place is around 850 per day. We report to office 3  or 4 times in a week sometimes. I noticed that at tmes I even struggled to survive on 60k a month, minus miscellaneous oooo...chai e no easy (p.s. single and I stay alone)

I dislike these kind of questions. Things like this is supposed to be strictly a personal decision. You are the one that knows what you are aiming at financially and what expenses you incurred regularly. I believe you are older than 18 years so you are an adult, no more a minor. You work for your money so set your own financial goal by yourself.

Hmmm...

For now, I'll advise that you stay away from women, alcohol and betting. Having done that...

Save 15k (20%) of that salary monthly

Use 37,500 (50%) for your essential expenses

And use the remaining 22,500 (30%) for emergency expenses.

The Lord is your strength.

75k monthly salary is less than 100usd. To be honest with you i can't give you any advise because what you earn is not enough to pay your bills.

I pray God link you up with a better paying job.

50k

*Modified*
Relocate to a place closer to your work place. Assuming you go to work 5 times in a week. In about 24 working days, you would have spent 850*5 = #20,400.
Your salary minus YOUR TP is about 54,600 naira.

Rich people ONLY SPEND what's left after THEY HAVE SAVED.

If you save up to 300k to 400k naira, just buy a small land and see it appreciate in value. I drop my pen here

Everything depends on you. Just ensure you don't spend on unnecessary things. And try as much as u can to meet up with your target so that you can be earning up to that 90k monthly. The country is tough. It's time to toughen up too.

Save 15% when higher and 10% of your basic Salary when it's less than #70k. I know it's hard but you need to. And after a year find a side hustling biz to invest the savings.
A small scale biz should able to compliment your Salary

Well I think…

First it depends on your location.

Next total cost of logistics- transportation to work etc.

Next will be how rugged and determined you are to save.

No one can set a specific limit or amount to save.

My advice is- set a target to save monthly for yourself!

If you are spending about 15,000 monthly on Transportation alone, then you'll probably have next to nothing to save tbh!!!

Honestly, any single man earning less than 150,000 monthly is already on a long thing!

...And any married man with at least 2 kids earning less than 350,000 monthly is on his own! undecided
