Once I get updates about the portal being open, I will alert you as well.

You don't have to do anything at the moment. Calm down...everyone seems to be in a hurry. You cannot expedite anything at the moment.
The Consulate in Lagos will send your Fiance/e or You a mail when your case is ready or you can keep checking on the Portal and when it shows "Ready" then you start your process. The only thing I will advise you to get now is "Birth Attestation" from the National Population Commission.

When your case shows "Ready" or either you or your fiance/e receives a mail to that effect then you can go ahead and pay Visa fee. The mail will tell you the recommended hospital for Medicals and other details. During Medicals, you are required to show letter from Embassy detailing your "Case ready status".

So calm down, you are almost there...Meanwhile spend time GATHERING THE RELEVANT DOCS. This is the most important STEP.

Go ahead and create your CGI account on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ pay your mrv fee at any GT bank branch and always check to know when there will be available dates so you can book one, your status will turn READY any moment from now,l. Fill your ds160 as well, don’t wait for the embassy to send you an email as that will take a lot of time. All the best to you

you can log in countless times and if there’s an available interview date you’ll see it on the bottom left of your account immediately you log in. Please don’t go beyond the login page more than five times in a day if not your account will be locked automatically for 72 hours.

Thanks for the clarification. Please which one comes first, CGI account or DS 160. And secondly, what if I book an interview date now and my medicals didn't happen early. Don't you think I need to be sure of when to do medicals before scheduling an interview. Just my thoughts.

any comes first but for you to book an interview appointment you must create a cgi account. For the medicals, once you have an interview date, it’s cool to do you medicals three weeks to your interview. You MUST have an interview date before medicals

I just remembered I have an old CGI account when Applied for B1/B2 about 3 years ago. Can I use the old account or do I need to create a new one for this purpose. I just checked, it seems the system is retrieving my old account and it is asking me to change password.

i honestly do not know the answer to this, you may have to call ustraveldocs customer on +23412278955. Someone more experienced here might help out as well

put your name as it appears on your international passport, if you’re still having difficulties creating account you can call ustraveldocs customer care on monday, they’ll definitely figure it out for you
