No the contract should be able to go both ways meaning that everyone understands their side of the agreement. If a worker steals, he gets a huge penalty to his final settlement. That way both parties are held responsible.

The apprenticeship system of the Igbos seem to be a better system and should be copied. This is not about our usual nairaland tribal rants.
A good friend of mine, a consultant medical Dr and a yoruba gentleman made the same observation on his fb page some time ago.
He said why driving through his neighborhood, he noticed all the newly constucted shops were being rented by igbo businesses. That Yoruba ronu..
He attributed It to the apprenticeship system. That his Yoruba people will pay to learn a trade, pay the master to graduate, then have to host a freedom party. By the time the person leaves, there is no money to start their own business. Now has to look for a low paying job to save money.
On the other hand the Igbo chap is feed and given stipends by his master. He learns the trade. He makes money selling in the shop. After few years his master settles him. He is able to rent a shop and stock it. His master mentors him for sometime, allows him credit in terms of goods and supplies for his shop untill the boy is strong financially. This boy then gets his own apprentices. The circle goes round and round creating wealth.
Go around shasha, Egbeda, Dopemu and all over Lagos, those igbos are buying property. They come to town and in few years are buying everywhere.
Truth of the matter is that other tribes have to look into emulating the Igbo system of apprenticeship as I think it is one of the secrets of their success.
