if nigeria is not a stupid country - why concentrate evrything in Lagos ? why not develop warri port, sapele port to receive goods meant for EDO DELTA REGION? that is why the roads are bad because the pressure from trailers moving things from lagos to benin warri and asaba is causing accidents on the highway and damaging the low quality roads RCC is constructing everywhere |

9japride:Somie mentioned that it was a private project But in addition Yes it's a private project, but it's with the approval of the FG. Why can't this kind of project be done in other parts of the country with waterways? With FG giving the kind of support it has given this one to same projects Because the Chinese can't invest without the support of the FG Lagos is congested Tincan and Apapa wharfs are becoming obsolete Now lekki in same congested Lagos What's going on with ibaka deep sea Port I am also happy Amaechi mentioned Bonny sea Port relying on Lagos ain't good for all round development I believe South South leaders should really think outside the box honestly. They should get the support of the government Then private investors can easily come in We can't have everything in Lagos Other parts should come up with something |

okuta007:It all boils down to the kind of leadership we have. Leadership that doesn't think Why should everything be clustered in Lagos? Like I said South South leaders should seriously think |

tollyboy5:I can understand your impatience. But dont come across as someone who isnt happy about this news. The project has been in the news for years as expected of such a huge project but this news is just about the ministers visit where he was assured the project will commence operations by September and surely it will because this is a privately funded project and investors wont waste time recouping their money. |

djon78: Very true, you made a great point. It's the federal government that usually have the final say in project setups. It's unfortunate the southern leaders are not as motivated as northern and south westerners in attracting projects to their zones. Lagos state is too small to have everything, it's that same greed that is making politicans from that zone to still be thinking of getting to the post of the president of Nigeria. When they get the presidency, they won't stop there, they will go ahead to collect everything in the country. One is being judged by the way he/she runs things. Finally, the joining together of northern and southern Nigeria is the main cause of all these, because one region is working assiduously to ensure the remaining other zones in the south are being divided. This result in situation where members of the divided zones try to backstab the other to get favours from the instigator of the division. If regions were allowed to managed themselves, it will result in positive competition amongst the regions and no room for feeding bottle system of government that encourages greed, looting, injustice and crises. |

9japride:You have some good and valid point but you're wrong claiming the FG is only committed to developing Abuja and Lagos. That is only true in the case of Abuja. The FG had completely abandoned and neglected Lagos for Abuja till Tinubu took over in 1999. Lagos administrators are developing Lagos 100%. They concieve the ideas, do all the feasibility research, produce project viability reports and then seek the approval of the FG and requisite partnership in certain areas of project development. Other States can do more without indolently waiting for the FG to innovate ideas for them. Lagos success is a big advert for continious competent administration no other State seem to have been able to replicate since 1999. This is why some of us are fans of holistic restructuring, leading States and regions to have more autonomy, so no State can continue hiding under the FG Umbrella. That restructured Nigeria will mean exemplarily-led States like Lagos do not continue to be the dumping ground of Nigerians from States made moribund and unproductive by misrule and cluenessness. Nigerians will have to start holding their leaders to account, at State and regional level, or suffer the consequences. |

9japride:But honestly these Southern leaders should wake up Don't they even think? Is it that they are not thinking of the betterment of there people? In as much as we castigate South West and the North, at least there leaders think about there people It may not be much, but to some extent But South South is horrible Then South East leaders are the worst of the pack |
