You can only make a difference if you can produce something that can charge far faster than what we have in the market else even if you mass-produce it, you can't still sell it cheaper than the ones imported from China. The essence of innovation is to come up with something that's better than the present else there's no innovation but imitation.

Nothing special about this bro, just voltage step down, rectification, and smoothing.

The critical thing is OP made a 5v power supply using knowledge. He didn't just buy a supply. The only thing between him and the marketplace is funds and an enabling environment. How I wish we were able to use his knowledge effectively in this country. Granted the components are all imported/scrapped from other products (and the full-bridge rectifier and 7805 are tried and true technologies), but knowledge is what transforms economies...

I rate it highly for the skills demonstrated.

I did something like this in JS2 intro tech practical over 15 years ago, only thing missing is the USB port. We simply tagged it conversion of AC to DC back then it's no big deal.

I first of all connected my four diodes in series, then my 1k/25v capacitor followed by transistor, 0.1/25v capacitor, light emitting diodes, USB port then my 240v transformer on the connection board, I read it with my meter and it gave me exactly 5v.

Bro you tried but from my observation, this charger will hardly give charge to your device. If it manages, it will take longer time. What you did was just to take 9V AC from the transformer, changed it to DC using those diodes. Then you stepped down the 9V to 5V using the 7805 transistor. You will need physics to get amp.. At least 2A will do. Nice one.

You did not connect the diodes in series. What you did there is known as a rectifier. Which converts AC to DC followed by the capacitors to smoothen the signal. The 7805 transistor ensures that you always get 5V output.

You have successfully carried out one of the EEE year 2 lab practicals.

Kudos!!!
