The US army is just too powerful. Even the Taliban admitted as much.

I wonder if the Russian army can topple the Ukrainian government. They seem stuck. The Russians do not have the mighty funds to modernize their army to the extent of the Americans or even the Chinese. Also, The US arsenals and those produced by their allies are superior to those of Russia.

I also suspect that corruption which endemic in Russian society might also affect product delivery. Just like in Nigeria, I am sure the Russian military have for long not been getting value for its money

How could they win when Pakistan kept the their border with Afghanistan open for Taliban fighters to ferry themselves across at will?

The secular government in Kabul had control of major cities. Also, during their time in power, Afghanistan enjoyed massive progress. The Americans, however, should have done better in the economic front.

America's emphasasis on war rather than the economy was an oversight. If 10% of the over $100bn Afghan yearly war budget was spent on transforming the economy or the country, Afghanistan would have at least triple the per capita income it has today.

The truth America could never win the war in Afghanistan. It's not easy fighting an insurgency fought guerilla style. . The best you can do is to weaken them, but outright defeat is unusually hard unless you use extremely brutal tactics, the sought Saddam Hussein was notorious. Wipe out entire villages that support the Taliban, eliminate an entire family if just one member is a Taliban member.
