I NEED HELP ON HOW SHENGEN VISA WORKS, I GOT MINE THROUGH ITALY AND I PLAN TO ATTEND CONFERENCE,BUT I WILL LIKE TO VISA MORE SHENGEN STATE AFTER THE CONFERENCE, I AM GIVEN 10DAY MAXIMUM TO STAY. THANKS
I think you can use it to travel to any Shengen visa country AFTER first entering through Italy. I advice you go to any others by train or coach/road travel if possible.

Can't people that reside in Abuja travel to Lagos and apply through the French embassy? I don't think Belgium wants to issue visa to anyone so applying through them might be a waste of time.

From the comments and experience of people on this thread, it seems the Belgian embassy are not organised and not ready to do their work which is issue visas whether for Belgium or other Schengen states. It's therefore advisable not to apply through the Belgian embassy for a Schengen visa.

Benjamite01, sorry I won't be able to answer your question but I think you should just do as written so as to avoid denial in the future. Please permit me to ask a few.
How long did it take from the time of the visa application to issuance?
How long was the Italian visa and where did you apply for the visa?

Thanks

Hi. I applied for a multiple entry schengen visa through Belgium embassy Abuja to The Netherlands. I put in my application on the 17th of January 2016 and my visa was ready by the 31st of January 2016. I was given one month multiple entry.
I had read all the horror stories about the embassy on here but i took a chance anyway, and made sure to submit all necessary documents.
I did however come to find that timing is important. January is not a busy month for them, so maybe that was in my favor. who knows!

I applied for a Belgium Type C visa on the 3rd of April and truly thought processing time will be 15 - 20 working days. Today is the 19th of May ( over a month since I applied) and no word from the embassy. I called and was told my application was forwarded to Belgium. I sent an email to Belgium and got a generic response of 60 working days being their legal time limit for visa processing. I really don't know what to do anymore.

Its pretty obvious your travel history worked for you - timing of application is negligible factor

This is not a good one at al, from all i have read here, its pure extortion from the Belgian Consulate here in Nigeria....and the funny part is Our so called Ministry of Foreign Affairs are not even giving a bleep about it... as long as they got diplomatic passport and can move out anytime they want its none of there biz.....i weep embarassed for this kind of a country.

What does it mean when the vfs guys say: "Your application has been sent to the Application centre in Abuja/Lagos " in their online tracking site. Note this is for Danish Visa Application

Hello from 2022

I regret not reading Nairaland before submitting my passport at the embassy.

My friend and I are going to Netherlands for a vacation she applied at the French embassy Lagos and get this- she got her visa in 8 days!!!!.

It has been over 6 weeks and incompetent Belgian embassy in Abuja has offered nothing. Honestly, I could have just flown down to Lagos and applied.

Never again, if NL says it is bad, then it is bad.

Will probably go retrieve my passport on next week since I will be unable to make the trip.

This is me advising anyone reading this in 2022, to just assume that only Lagos is reliable for Schengen visa application.

I am applying soon. How about people living in the Northern state, can they fly out to lagos? will it be granted to such people. Please I need an answer as I'm about to apply.

Yes, you can fly down to Lagos. French embassy is your best plug for swift Schengen visa
