So they spent billions on this project that looks like project funded by Landlord Association? And you still blame Buhari for everything?

What else do you expect from a state that a confirmed thief and a convicted criminal is the godfather choosing who will be a governor and who wouldn't? Even the speaker of that very state house of assembly is kneeling for the confirmed looter to become his anointed one. Delta and Bayelsa state are the scales of measurement of how corrupt a state is in the south-south. Like someone said how I wish we can borrow Adams Oshiomole to be our governor even for just a tenure. In Delta, state people look up to yahoo boys even more than the state government.

The difference between one party states like Delta and Lagos is that:

While Lagos government steals and does some work, Delta leaders just boldly rob the citizens blind, settle some key youth leaders, and win the next election landslide...

Delta is another serially badly run state that the ruling PDP MUST lose for its citizens to be set free.
What has accrued to it since 1999 is more than enough to transform it into an oasis of prosperity.
But alas it has been passed on from one villain to another.

Tell your comrades to go learn how democracy works for the development of nations.
This is just not it at all.
There is too much individualism in the South-South and very little collective aspirations.
Political leaders see these cracks in the polity and the lack of synergy amongst the people to divide, rule and conquer.

I am curious why so. If you dont mind sharing.

So in 2001, MTN wanted to mount a Mast at Orhowhorun Road junction. The community youths demanded "deve". My mum tried to engage the youths that they should give up the demand for deve and ask for a long-term community development plan. A 20 year plan that would require the business to ensure they sponsor children from the community to school and hire only locals to fill any roles arising from deploying the mast. The youth refused. They told her point blank that they are not sure the business would be available 5 years after. She pleaded with them and asked "If MTN offers you ₦2m as deve today or you demand ₦100bn investment over 10 years, which would you choose. They all unanimously said ₦2m now". she was shocked. The youths sha had their way and MTN paid deve (don't remember the amount now). They divided it amongst themselves and we're happy. This is 21 years after, and MTN is still standing strong, ₦2m finished while MTN is still raking in millions.

Fast forward to last week Sunday, I was having an argument with the new set of youth leaders and threw the same question to them. They said they want the ₦2m now. 21 years after they made the same decision. One even told me that someone who cannot buy the a bottle of beer now how can he be able to buy a crate in one month? Or in one year. 21 years and they are still behaving the same way. Eat now and forget about the future of their children and grand children!

Thank you so much, for sharing, you really open my eyes, on the mentality of the youth in some area in Delta state, and i agree with you, they are not smart, and they will continue to remain like that, if they do not realize the disadvantage of quick gains.

The mentality of a people is a predictor of their future, they really have to change such a poor mentality. And i wonder how it can be changed gradually.

The deve is not sustainable, seems some are easily satisfied with begging and handouts.

Then again it also seems like they dont realize how they are sabotaging their future, i wonder why they cannot see it.

Delta state is united in corruption, since 1999. All the rulers, vultures, and thieves are in same party, they sometimes create and empower opposition party (accord party) to criticize and praise PDP, which is only as strong as PDP wants it to be. so no opposition in our state. Sometimes I wish that oshiomole, even as e don mess up, rule delta state
Care explaining how Oshiomhole messed up and yet you want him to rule Delta State and "mess" it up too? With Delta being traditionally PDP, an Oshiomhole can't win any election there.

Is Thief Ibori not in Delta State? Wasn’t he Governor of Delta State and still Godfather of Politics in the State? Didn’t he chase Econet and Strive Masiyiwa out of Nigeria when he sought to corruptly divert Delta State Econet shareholding into private pockets and Strive, an ethical businessman stood against him. Strive Masiyiwa eventually testified against him in a British Court where he was convicted on the same set of facts Marcel Awokulehin and Supreme Court Justices couldn’t convict him with.
Even though I am not actively interested in Delta State politics and issues of the quality of governance there like I do about some other states,
I was amused when I saw some Deltans accusing Oshiomhole of godfatherism and desire to continue living on Edo State resources while looking away from the more vicious, older and more pernicious Ibori's permanent godfatherism and continued looting in Delta State.

This may have been the fault of the contractor and the supervisors from government because of their perchant for cutting corners not necessarily the governor.

But this is why I still respect Oshiomole as Edo Governor, all project executed were up to national standard let me not say International as they stand the test of time till today, and the present Governor is also doing well in the quality aspect from the few projects he has completed.

Most of the very few infrastructural projects he has embarked on since 2017 are very substandard. The about 12 km road total he did in my home town in his first term are full of failed portions right now. Same with many other towns. I can upload pictures to prove my claim. He has totally abandoned the state's primary and secondary schools renovation project which Oshiomhole initiated and vigorously pursued to the extent that at least two primary schools and two secondary schools are completely renovated with state of the art materials in every village in all of the 18 LGAs in the state. What he only does is to repaint the ones done by Oshiomhole and attach a signboard of his picture at the entrance gate.

Same as edo
Exactly. In 1999 we prefered Lucky Igbinedion whose only campaign point was that he used to gift his salary to market women while he was Oredo LGA chairman. And the Lucky Imasuen who campaigned with a workable and realistic manifesto anchored on harnessing the natural and human resources of the state for sustainable economic diversification couldn't even get up to 25% of the votes. Then right in the face of Lucky's monumentally failed first term acknowledged publicly by his own biological father, we voted massively again for him for a second term. Then the Oshiomhole who put forward a far better campaign in 2007 had to struggle to get a slight margin of victory over Osunbor that was imposed on the state by Obasanjo an Ogun State native. Then Obaseki with his first term failure got reelected for a second term on emotions. Edo State has a very long way to go considering the kind of sentiments which guide voters' choices.

Lol maybe na for Benin town e limit quality of project, were he can directly supervise, you know this contractors once they know project cannot be supervised they begin to cut corners, that was another good thing about Oshiomhole he supervises all his project himself even if the project it’s been built in very far parts of the state, he even gives update on it more than the Engineers directly involved, I pray we get someone like him again, Obaseki is more of a technocrat or office kind of person, I will not say he is not doing well or he doing well, but I believe he can do more.
