You give your wife and child ~ $10 a month or a week to feed? undecided

You forgot to mention where exactly your family lives so folks can give you a better assessment here. undecided

Firstly, 50k naira is not equivalent of 10 dollars. You need to beat up your Maths teachers.
Secondly, He doesn't give just 50k monthly and stops at that, he buys stuffs too.

Guy u need to talk to your wife because that money is more than enough for just the two of the when every other thing is already available

What is she even buying?

Aostle:
Jennifer Aostle your wife should learn how to manage that money it is enough. She's not buy rice groundnut oil and provision with the money so why is she complaining

I receive 50k I use 10 to buy goat meat for soup and stew coz I cook In bulk then use the remaining to buy other things needed in the house. I don't fill gas and cable subscription with the money.

If somethings get exhausted before month end I use my own money because I have a business. That's my little way of supporting him.

But he make sure I get my feeding money once salary is paid.

Talk to her calmly tell her you have a building project at hand she should please manage it. You know how your wife be so talk to her.

Thanks for responding. She gets her feeding money as at when due and she knows what I earn and also aware I have a project at hand. I get scared each time I wondered how it will look like if had two or three kids. My child is going to three years so she only wears pampers at night and doesn't eat baby food anymore. Sometimes I spend extra one week or two weeks at work depending on the situation. So it's mostly two of them at home
Re: Is N50,000 Monthly Enough Feeding Allowance For A Family Of 3? by pacesetting: 1:58pm On Mar 29, 2022
OP, if you're giving her 50k only for feeding (excluding groceries, bag of rice, and others you mentioned), that should be enough.

My points:

1. You are spending only two weeks at home, so the expenses have reduced on your own part

2. Since she owns a boutique, she should be augmenting whenever the 50k finishes before the end of the month. She is not paying shop rent oo.

If she still complains, despite knowing your are handling a building project, it's obvious she's not good with money management.

For peace to rein, just add up for her while both of you keep working on yourselves financially.

Just increase a little. Things are really expensive out there in the market. Cooking a pot of stew that would last for a month can gulp up to 50k not to talk of soup. It is well

Abeg you people should stop lying, pot of stew for two people will cost 50k. Oga ask your wife very well what she does with the money you give her every month, I am a woman too, I run a home, if she can't manage what you give her, let her add from her business. Don't listen to some people here. Linus everywhere.

I am married with one kid and another one on the way. I do two weeks in and two weeks out job and I earn 200k per month. We live in our own house and my wife runs a boutique business in a store owned by us so she doesn't pay rent for the business.

We have constant electricity free of charge so we cook with an electric cooker.

The problem here is I give her 50k monthly to take care of the house while I settle every other stuff including stocking the house with bag of rice, groundnut oil, palm oil, medical bills, cable subscription, school fee, clothing, etc and I also bring provisions and toiletries when I am coming back from work yet I get complains of the feeding allowance is not enough month in month out and I am getting fed up.

She knows I am doing a building project yet I keep getting complains.

Pls, advise me, is the feeding money not enough?

If you give her 1m Monthly she will still ask for more. Do your best and leave the resst bro.

You should be the one to reread his post. It's even stated in the title. 50k for 3 persons.

In as much as it is unbelievable, 50 might not be enough in this our economy, especially in highly expensive areas, 3k is not enough for a decent stew, and if you are a guy that loves fresh food daily, you can do the calculation.

My advice is get a new source of income to cushion this effect cos it seems you and your wife loves the poch life.

it's not a question of her not knowing how to manage, prices change on a daily basis in Nigeria. How much is pure water ok your area?
Please go back and read what the OP wrote again.

Yes we know prices of things are hard, but not when she does not buy groceries and rice, plus the hubby only spends two weeks at home.

And she owns a boutique that doesn't pay rent oo.

Haba!! Make some women take am easy nah.

it depends on the location, anywhere apart from lagos, abuja and PH is very OK.
it depends on the wife and level of taste and management.
it depends on how you treat needs vs wants.

What's all these for goodness sake? From what he said, this guy spends nothing less than 100k from his 200k salary and the wife still complains.
She is also running a boutique business, what then is she doing with the money coming from the business?
Well, that depends on the agreement between the woman and her husband. undecided

According to the Op, his expectation is instead that the 50K he gives her ought to suffice as far as food is concerned- no mention that she is expected to make up for the difference with proceeds from her own business. grin

Why can't you men just buy everything you need everytime instead of drawing up impossible budgets for your wives?

And I hope you are happy Op, the insults you wanted nairalanders to insult your wife are now very plenty on the thread.

Sit you wife down, so but of you can plan your family income very well, and make her know your every source of income, so she can assist you in managing things , from what you hav explained she feels you have more money to bring to the table.

@ op,you made the mistake of letting her know the actual salary you earn monthly.
If most women, especially wives knows what their husbands earn monthly, their target will be how the money will get exhausted, they will keep piling bills on your neck.

It depends on the area you are staying since prices of foodstuffs are not of the same prices in different places, she should even be grateful, to me it will be enough depending on how she manage it.
