Samba boys kind of hype with San Marino performance. grin grin grin

No need rubbing it in.

I think this failure ranks as one of the most painful since our loss to Italy at US 94. So close...yet so far. We were clear favorites against what looked like a shitty Ghana team but still managed to bungle it.

There should be an inquest if those at the helm have an iota of responsibility.
England missing out of the Euros in 2008 ultimately benefitted them with critical adjustments. They went on to dominate age grade FIFA tourneys and even performed excellently at the last world cup. Their young players presently are a lot more technical than is usually expected.

This is Nigeria, after a while, we would carry on like nothing happened then sooner or later.. we could find ourselves in the same situation again...sighs.

that is my two cents, he played with worst defenders at club level, yet he make big safes, after safes, even going to keep 3 clean sheets in a roll, he got better day after day,

so yes Okoye is good
The same basket Okoye that has been conceeding saveable goals left right center for Nigeria?
The same Okoye who couldn't catch anything against Sierra Leone allowing them come back from 4:0 in Benin?
The same Okoye who couldn't save a direct ball shot at him in Lagos during the qualifiers against Cape Verde?
The same Okoye we saw against Tunisia?
We have seen Okoye one too many times and we know he is a 3/10 goalkeeper.
I don't understand, why are you routing for Okoye? Are you a Nigerian? Even Okoye's father will tell you he's not good enough. Aren't you tired of loosing? What is really wrong with you? With due respect.

Eguavoen resigns

Not enough.

He should also resign as Technical Director of the NFF.

His utterances and conduct prior to the AFCON and the World Cup Qualifier Playoff screams incompetence and indicates he's unfit for the role of TD of our National teams.

...And another coach will take up the job to scout new players and continue with the rebuilding process, after how many years my people?
SMH.
Please what are we rebuilding? Wall of Jericho or what? It’s high time we tell ourselves the truth.
Na wetin you get U go take cook soup.
You don’t expect your team to perform magic like Bayern Munich/Barcelona/Man City or players like De’ bruyne, Neymar or perform like Oliver khan when they’re above average or below par..
I don’t know what’s is going on in the Glass house but NFF should sit their ass down and tell themselves the truth. If it means declaring ‘’state of emergency’’ in the sports ministry the better.
Some people said we should scout local talents, we all saw how magnificent they played against Mexico last year.
Since 1995 till date we’re still living on past glories.

This 38yr old man called Uzoho with his awkward foot steps like a girrafe chasing down a ball of coconut down the stairs. His lack of foot work has been a hindrance to his steps that's why he's always rooted to his spot and can't make a save with his legs.
The guy managed to kick the ball out for a corner kick while under no pressure. When you have a goalie who can't kick the ball properly, you will always struggle to build attacks.
if this guy see Uzoho one on one he go too deck am

Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down as Nigeria boss after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Nigeria were eliminated on the away goals rule following a 1-1 draw with Ghana in Abuja in the second leg of their play-off on Tuesday. Eguavoen, 56, was placed in interim charge of the side in December following the sacking of long- serving coach Gernot Rohr.
He led the team to the last 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations this year, and was then tasked with reaching the World Cup finals in Qatar.
Nigeria's exit at the hands of their fierce West African rivals was met by an angry reaction from home supporters, who pelted the Ghanaian delegation with missiles and damaged dugouts and advertising hoardings after staging a pitch invasion.
Former Nigeria international Eguavoen, who had two previous spells in charge of the national side, is expected to return to his position of technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Meanwhile, the rest of the Super Eagles coaching staff has been dismissed, and offers of two-and-a- half-year contracts have been withdrawn.
Emmanuel Amuneke, Joseph Yobo and Salisu Yusuf had joined Eguavoen's backroom staff last month, with Aloysius Agu retained as goalkeeping coach.

"We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours," NFF general secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi said.

A statement from the NFF said a new management team would be announced "after a proper review" and would be charged with "reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately".

Hello everyone smiley. Some expected follow up news to the Ghanaian game have started to surface.

1. Equavoen resigns
2. Entire technical crew sacked.
3. Abuja stadium banned from hosting FIFA games indefinitely

Dark moments for Nigerian football.

I kind of understand why Rohr never thought of his team as having superstars and why he always sounded modest about them. As a matter of fact they are very much average, and we failed to wake up on this thought.

My dissatisfaction with Rohr was that he allowed his knowledge of the averageness of the team to simmer into his selections and overall cautious game plan. And and the latter point this didn't work especially with teams we should not be average against. CAR at home but he redeemed himself with a win on a neutral ground. Then seira Leone at home and away. Then CV. He was no longer playing like we were average , he was setting us up like we were coequal of below average teams

I'm not happy too. But I don't get too sad for what is not directly related to me or my career and what I cannot control. I feel more sad for the players whose careers are affected.

It's bad that with the talents we have, we can't get the team to play up to potential.

Believe me, the problem is not that our players are average. What of the African teams we play? Are their players better? It is also not about playing in Europe or being born in Europe. Cape Verde were African minnows until they started to fill up their squad with European born players. Look at Gabon also. What of Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal?

Other African teams are getting better with European born players while Nigeria is the only one getting worse.

Okoye is showing promise ?

Will anybody beat you from speaking the truth

Okoye is good for his club no doubt ,but why are you lying to yourself that he he showing promise for the national team ? Lol
Okoye is not the only one facing this problem. Its just the goalkeeping position is more critical, but if you look at it, most of our players are finding it difficult transferring their club form to the national team.
