Okay good. Mine was IOE too and the same processing centre as yours. My biometrics appointment was on 4th Oct 2021. AOS interview was on 2nd March 2022. Card was mailed on the 9th March 2022.

Your processing actually starts after your biometric processing NOT BEFORE. If your biometrics appointment goes well, your case status will change to "We are currently actively reviewing your case".

My challenge is that my Nigeria passport has expired and my appointment is around June in order to renew it. Can she submit the form without any information about my passport involved in it? Please for those that have gone through this process kindly enlighten me on it. Thanks

if you want a faster renewal timeframe, try to do it outside Lagos. go to abeokuta or sagamu.

Tell ur petitioner to call NVC to get ur case number and invoice number u use it to track ur case wen it get to Lagos embassy[b]

Things u need 4 interview when NVC sent your case to Lagos embassy your status wil show ready

Go with at least 2 passport photos, international
passport, appointment confirmation printout, DS-160
printout, GTBank Payment Receipt, Birth Certificate,
Police Clearance Certificate, Medical Report (sealed),
filled Affidavit of Support form along with its
supporting documents (fiance's birth certificate,
international passport, tax returns, bank statement,
employment letter, etc), copy of documents your
fiance submitted to USCIS when she petitioned for you
(i129F along with supporting documents), proof of
relationship (WhatsApp Chats, Call Logs, Pictures of
you both together, copy of Flight Boarding Pass used
to visit fiance, money transfers, etc) and other
documents that supports what you filled in the DS-160[b]

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
K-1
More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire

CR-1
Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765, I-944) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

Well said. However, you can get Your SSN with a K1 VISA while still waiting for your AOS to be adjudicated, but must do so before your K1 visa expires, and having your SSN let you process everything else except working and traveling outside the States.

PS: Some states let you apply for Drivers Licence without SSN though.

Sincerely, I'll advise you to go the CR-1 route

Gone are the days when K1 timeline used to be 6months...Now, you have to wait endlessly

So why not do the CR-1 which comes with more benefit (especially when she gets to the US)
Unlike the K1....the wait for AOS approval/process is very frustrating.

The choice is yours to make...All the best!

One month isn't bad oooooo..... People waited for almost 12 months last year. The good thing was that the whole of 2021 NVC cases was moved to the Embassy in March. Now, Imagine someone whose NOA2 was in January 2021 and Someone whose NOA2 was in December 2021. ( Different waiting period for both). We hope 2022 cases doesn't stay that long before it is been moved to the Embassy.
