One person was killed after violent fights broke out between commercial motorcyclists and hoodlums in Lagos.

The incident happened at Abesan Estate in the Baruwa/Gate area of Ipaja on Monday morning, April 4.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said that the suspected killer had been arrested while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain what caused the clash.

According to a witness, the deceased identified as Inawo had tried to intervene during an altercation between the Okada rider and pregnant passenger only for the suspect to stab him with a knife.

"Bike man had an altercation with his pax (pregnant woman). Woman slapped him and he punched the woman's mouth (o for Le nu)... The ticketer...a.k.a Inawo... Intervened like what's your problem... Bike man stabbed Inawo with him" the witness narrated on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Response Squad of the command in a statement said calm has been restored to the area and urged Lagosians to go about their lawful duties.

"Our officers responded to the violent fights that broke out in Baruwa/Gate area of Ipaja this morning. Calm has been restored to the area. One person was confirmed dead," the statement read.

"The killer and other suspects have been arrested while intensive patrols of the area is going on. Lagosians are urged to go about their lawful duties, especially in the axis as their safety and security is being made top priority."

This aboki guys surrounded my car at 31 Road in gowon estate . It took the intervention of well meaning Nigerians to save me from their hands .

You may ask what I did? Anyways I was driving from Gemade to enable me pass through 31 Road..Along the way I saw a nepa wire falling as if is gonna touch my car so I decided to dodge the wire . However ,you know how this aboki follow one bumper to pumper . The moment I dodged the wire and the aboki dodged hitting me , so he fell on the flour ...I didn't touch him infact he was at my back while I was infront .

They were more than 40 with cutlass, stick etc ..i had to wind up and central lock my car . The broke all the car handle . Lucky for me some guys that know me mobilised and came to my rescue. When it was decided that we go to police to judge the matter , they disappeared one by one .

The govt turned blind eye over the activities of thus aboki okada riders . They don't have riders licence,they are under the influence of hard drug. I have witnessed when one of them took off after hitting a lady. I had to take same lady to the pharmacist for drugs . The moment you hit them the beat hell out of you . They moment they hit you , they still beat hell out of you.

This is the second killing by this same aboki riders via same means of stabbing . That the police don't search and confiscate this weapons baffles me . Let's continue to pamper this problems..I only hope they don't end up pushing peaceful people to violence. No tribe has monopoly of violence .

The govt knows what to do . They should stop playing politics with the lives of the citizens

This guys should be trained and certify to be fit fir okada driving . This guys don't have house ...that is why you can't trace them each time they commit this crime. Unfortunately some innocent ones among them who are ignorant of the happening will be affected.
