Lecturers will soon start moving out of the country for better salaries in their numbers like Dr’s.
Is very funny to compare lecturer with doctor, even you can fit in as a lecturer irrespective of your field but not as a medical doctor.

lol Mr man, they both went through the same process.

So what is there not to compare? A Dr can also be a Lecturer even with a full time medical Job, or you don’t know that all teaching hospitals in the country which happens to be the medical headquarters of most states are also educational institutions

Why will sectors of the economy be left at the whims and caprices of some people?

I think the regulation should be such that if there is a strike, all parties involved must lose something, and that is why efforts will be made to avert it making it the last option.

A situation where workers are free to just go on strike and all their salaries paid at the end of the day is a very wrong practice because they have nothing to lose.

Infact, they even enjoy more benefits because they don't go to work and might have used the opportunity for some side hustle. angry

That is assuming lecturers are the only one the FG cater for!

Ogar in daily basis advance countries like UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, US, Italy, Saudi Arabia are gladly receiving medical practitioners in Nigeria and other Africa countries.
have you ever heard that any country come for Nigeria lecturer? Even country like Niger republic can never come for Nigeria lecturers talk less of America or Europe, the question you should ask your self is what exactly are they looking for from Nigeria lecturers especially those in public varsity?

Correct.

But I am defining strike in terms of the constitution.

The constitution only guaranties right to peaceful assembly,which may include peaceful protest.The constitution did not even mention protest.

Thus if we are to accept peaceful protest as part of peaceful assembly, Strike can never be what the constitution is referring to.

The same Wikipedia defines protest:

A protest (also called a demonstration, remonstration or remonstrance) is a public expression of objection, disapproval or dissent towards an idea or action, typically a political one.[2][3] Protests can be thought of as acts of cooperation in which numerous people cooperate by attending, and share the potential costs and risks of doing so.[4] Protests can take many different forms, from individual statements to mass demonstrations. This news is reported on 28th March, 2022. It has been reported that no University Lecturer under IPPIS has been paid at the time of this report and it is likely that they won't be paid.
ASUU should be able to forfeit their salaries in order to fight for the survival of tertiary education in Nigeria

That is the more reason the No Work No Pay rule as per section 43 of the trade disputes act,is very appropriate and constitutional!

Underfunded you mean when a Head of Department that goes home every month with a fat cheque is also supporting the corrupt lecturers because of his percentage, instead of disciplining the Lecturers? Even SUG for school dey corrupt, will you also call that result of under funding? Why would a lecturer be allowed to teach in 4 different schools and getting payed for the 4 positions while we have unemployed 1st class and 2nd class graduates with MSc? Thats the reason the lecturers rejected IPPIS for the payment of their salary, because it will expose such lecturers.

Considering the fact that Nigerian workers especially lecturers have, for so long been abusing the right to go on strike, I believe for this country to move forward constitution need to be amended to ensure that those who go on strike forfeit their salary for the duration of the strike.

It is evil for people to be paid for job they never did. As long as this people believe their salary is guaranteed despite going on strike they will always abuse the privilege of going on strike to the detriment of the nation.
