aribisala0: Ogbeni calm down, let me tell you something shocking: it is possible to have a disucssion without getting aggressive. Having said that: The facts are clear. While Osimhen may not have played as many games as Yekini, he can only be judged on the number of games he has played. And at that level, his record is outstanding, and second only to Yekini if not better. I don't have the time to crunch the actual numbers. Goal to game ratio is widely used in football b the way, so maybe you need to keep up with the times! Secondly, it is obvious that Yekini never played the level of football that Osimhen plays. That much is incontrovertible so what basis have yioy for calling it childish talk?? |

SmartyPants:What level of football is Osimhen playing? What has he achieved? The opposite is the case Osimhen never played at Yekini's level. You made a claim which obviously is wrong. What is outstanding about 10 goals in 20 games? Osimhen's return is 50% at 20 games when Yekini was at 20 games it was nearly 100% and reduced to 60% as he got older. So tell us exactly what Osimhen has achieved above Yekini whether at club or national level? YEKINI IS THE ALL TIME RECORD GOAL SCORER for Nigeria Rashidi was THE FIRST NIGERIAN to win AFrican Footballer of the Year What has Osimhen achieved ?? Yekini was a goal machine. He scored 91 goals for Victoria Setubal in 114 appearances and nearly 500 club goals in his career 2 Likes |

kokomilala: No body said bicycle kick is not good. However, out of 10 bicycle kicks only 1 will hit the target! That is why they are spectacular and even Ronaldo may not have more than 3-4 bicycle kick goals to boast of. So, it is something a responsible striker should only do if he has no other choice! e.g. the ball is going away from you and that is the only way to reach the ball. 2 Likes |

Osimhen vs Ikpeba statistics in France: 1. Victor Osimhen, 13 Goals Lille youngster Victor Osimhen comes in at 7th place after an excellent maiden campaign in France. The former U-17 World champion shrugged off a disappointing spell in Germany with Wolfsburg to bang in 20 goals for Sporting Charleroi last term. If there were doubts about his goalscoring ability, Osimhen put them all to bed, with his 13 Ligue 1 goals confirming that the young striker knows his way past goalkeepers. The 21-year-old’s consistent displays also saw him named in the league’s Team of the Season ahead of established stars like Wissam Ben Yedder. Osimhen may, however, not get the chance to add to his tally and climb higher on these ratings, with Italian side Napoli reportedly close to securing his services. 2. Victor Ikpeba, 55 Goals Monaco took a gamble on a little known Nigerian youngster, Victor Ikpeba, signed him from Belgian club RFC Liège, and a certain Arsene Wenger turned that rough diamond into the Prince of Monaco. Ikpeba showed outstanding form in the months leading to the 1996 Olympics, scoring 13 league goals to help Monaco win the league title. That summer, he added an Olympics gold medal to his 1994 AFCON winners medal. The following campaign, the Benin City-born star also finished as the second-top goalscorer in the UEFA Cup, and it came as no surprise when he was named the African Footballer of the Year in 1997. By the time Ikpeba left France for Germany’s Borussia Dortmund in 1999, he had smashed in 76 goals in 217 games for Les Monégasques, 55 of which was registered in the Ligue The boy need to be calming down when the prince is speaking. 2 Likes |

robosky02: My point is that we as Nigerians need to protect our own. Have you seen how former England players and all journalists hype English players… they over hype their players and it’s something we need to copy. You can’t be condemning your own shining light… Instead, Ikpeba should have criticized the NFF and sports minister… Nobody is dragging his legend status with him…so he should act like a legend…. |

Pidginwhisper: Is it really necessary to also insult Eguavoen? You think it is easy to play Ghana? Go look at the records and see how many times we have managed to beat Ghana at any level (with local or foreign coaches). Also check how many times we have beaten Tunisia at the senior level. Please lets show the guy a little respect for the bravery of taking on a difficult job with little time to make any changes. If he had chickened out and refused to take the job, we would also gather here to abuse him. |

udemzyudex: In the context of your original comment, being "it is easy to criticize", with the implication being that the critic couldn't do it himself, I have simply pointed out to you that Ikpeba did it himself, to a much higher level than Osimhen has currently managed. 1 Like |

Well said. When up and coming athletes chose to insult established legends who criticise them...it's always downwards for them. When Lenox Lewis criticised Anthony Joshua, AJ insulted him and they became enemies. Lenox was undisputed. AJ is unwanted. Several times, maradona will criticise Messi. Messi never replied negatively. Humility is key for your progression. |

aribisala0: What is outstanding about 10 goals in 20 games? Is that a serious question? How many goals did legends like Kanu score in his entire super eagles career? Even goal machines like Yakubu? Osimhen is already well on track to surpass them. That is what makes it so outstanding. And the second part of your post really answers my question. Vitoria Setubal is a joke compared to Napoli. At some point, in fact, they were playing second division in Portugal while Yekini was there! That was the highest Yekini played at but Osimhen started his career at a level higher than that and proved himself at Belgian, French, and Italian leagues (all higher than the Portugese league), all before the age of 23. At 23 Yekini was still playing in the Nigerian league and stayed there for many years. |
