If SSANU means senior staff, are they like professors and readers, or which job description falls under senior staff of universities?

any worker whether you are an academic staff or a non academic staff can be a senior staff, it all depends on your grade level attained while working in most of these establishment.

I can be a non academic staff in a university with NASU, even after i get promoted to a senior staff grade level, I can still decide my union has been loyal to me and stick with NASU. Instead of jumping to senior staff association of universities. Some of these senior staff are under the administrative (duties) cadres in such settings

In case you are not aware, ASUU have what they call survival fund. It is usually given during the striking period to help mitigate the effect of the strike. After the strike, the beneficiaries are expected to pay back gradually.

So You think labour movement dont know what they are doing abi? This warning strike commenced exactly some few days before the end of march, so by law they know they worked for it, and they are entitled to their salaries for March.

They are under the non teaching arm of university staff and the Ssanu are senior staff members of the administrative officers

Wow!

I didn't know ASUU had such a scheme in place.

No wonder, any small thing, they go on strike.

But come to think of it, how long do you think the survival fund will last if more and more ASUU members starts depending on it as the strike prolongs?

The next president has to find a way to stop these fvcking unions from strong arming the government with strike actions. It’s for this reason that I would ban labor unions when I become president, expect me in 16 years; unlike Atiku, I’m actually coming

Diverse opinions are allowed, stop trying to be a bully. I’m well aware that education is underfunded in Nigeria but strikes are counterproductive

That's why they've cooperatives. Like I said earlier, what they will give you may not be enough but enough to mitigate the impact of the strike. Survival fund could be from 50k up depending on the institution. Mind you not every academics rely on the Survival fund. Some have side hustle. In some of cases, some of them rely on their partners (married ones) for Survival except where both couples are academics.

Federal government should implement no work no pay because they can't keep on collecting free salary while students is suffering, with this they must have tangible reason before the think of any strike action.

Imagine those selfish self-centered gang were on strike before for a very long time just because of IPPIS, the insist to continue using their own design payment platform so that they can continue with their manipulation, i have never heard before that ASUU embark on strike for benefit of Nigeria students, this madness must stop they are not the only public servants in Nigeria.

Federal Government and their constant threat, No work no pay policy has not been a new thing before to the ears of labour movement in nigeria and it wont start now.

Our Governments insensitivity to the plight of Nigerian workers in this country is really baffling so say the least.

Virtually all the unions in our universities are on strike, and all activities in our universities have been grounded to a halt, and most offices are locked to drive home their demands.

Are you a university staff? Moreover, I stated in my post that some of them have side hustles. Side hustles could be anything. As for cooperative, every union has a cooperative. It's not compulsory that you must be a member. For you to benefit from the survival fund, you must be member.

Oga more than 30% of igbos voted Buhari, the reason why most of you guys voted for Atiku is because the only thing in your head is PDP, most igbos will come out to vote PDP even if APC"s candidate is Igbo.

And as far I'm concerned, Atiku has wors history compare to Buhari, but if you think otherwise, the Atiku 70% of you guys wanted 2019 will contest again, we will give you what you want this time around. So, you won't say you warned us about Buhari and Tinubu. LoL
Forgive me, but I'm confused here.

Plus like someone asked you earlier, how do you know that the earlier comment you quoted was by an Igbo?

IPPIS is quick and prompt to implement No Work No Pay directives by FG but never obey the directives of the same FG that minimum wage arrears should be paid to Nigerian tertiary Workers up to February 2020. Let me remind you that, a supplementary budget was summited by the President Buhari,s administration in order to clear this backlogs,, but IPPIS were giving flimsy excuses that some Universities didn't submitts their staff, some submitted without serial number, some didn't put full stop and commas in the names submitted just flimsy excuses. This same IPPIS are discriminationately paying some hazards allowance arreears to people who accept to forfeits their 2months to IPPIS.
Do you know that, only ministry of education workers were yet to receive their minimum wage arrears and also the last time CONUALs salary were increased was in 2001 considering the values of our naira, salary is stagnant but cost of goods have skyrocketed, which means fixed Salary earners are becoming more poorer.

So it's quite likely a large percentage of the SSANU members are also NASU members... That'll explain why they are almost always going on strike at the same time

SSANU members can not be NASU members at the same time, they only come together like a joint strike action when they have common issues which affect both their members.

Some of these SSANU members were initially NASU members but along the line they got promoted and forgot the whole essence of trade unionism in the first place by deciding to jump ship.

Some People always forget where they are coming from, by law associations cant declare trade dispute against government or management, only registered trade unions can.
