It's crazy how many companies are looking for data analyst.

Last week I was doing networking and installation job for a new company office. And I heard the MD talking about needing a data analyst.
I quickly told her I know someone who is good at it. She said ok the person should come and see her,

I went home and told my landlord daughter that I know is in that line that I will help her get a job. As they said the rest is history.

The company is starting full time next month

Have you gotten a response yet? Once you learn Power BI, you're definitely on your way. The important thing to know is that Data Analytics is understanding how to analyse data itself, not just using tools.

Data analysis. That's a tech skill. A science. Digital marketing is an art. Which means it is rubbish.

In data analysis, 1 + 1 = 2. In digital marketing, there are no definite answers. It is trash. I've done it. It's nonsense. You're better off being an astrologer.

If your question is about which of them will make it easier for you to find a job or monetary gains QUICK... Just stick with digital and Social Media Marketing.

Digital marketing is very good but it's so broad.

You might need a track record of good results before anyone will trust you. To get those good results, you might need to get an internship. If no internship, you might need to use your personal funds to try out what works.

This will take you years.

Data Analytics on the other hand is more difficult than digital marketing but if you really put your head to learn, you'll be good at it within a year.

My advice: Choose Data Analytics. It is a budding field with lots of prospects.

To analyze data, you need to know exactly what you are looking for, and you might bump into other interesting discoveries or patterns in the course of this.
The field is broad and the demand for data analysts in the medical, financial, business and other fields is on the increase.

There are different data analysis packages that you can learn, some of which include Excel, Python, R, etc.
Truth is you need to have at least basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, probability, and basic programming skills to learn some of these but they are not difficult. Remember, I wrote "basic", so this should not scare you or anyone. It's fun.

Imagine you got hold of sales data of your company, did some analysis and shared your results with your bosses, helping them see why they have been making losses, products or services that have helped them rake in the highest profits, where and what adjustments to make, and the future trend of the business. You would be an asset.

First things first:
Know and understand yourself, what drives you, and the kind of problems that you want to help people solve before deciding on either digital marketing or data analysis.

Data analysis is better because data specifically is vital aspect of every businesses these days. Just ensure that you love figures, have problem solving skills and learn to put interpretations in the most simplest form to understand. I'm one and a statistician but not fully into it but dreams wide gan. Wishing you the best.

Hey bro, digital marketing is very broad and you need knowledge of marketing, data analysis and Web development in order to succeed in this profession.

Because of the sheer breadth of digital marketing, it might take long for you to learn and become proficient in time to start working, except you want to specialise in areas such as content writing, copywriting, social media management, analytics, PPC, SEO, PR, etc.

Moreover, companies these days rarely hire people without experiences, so you might need to find and enrol in an internship, especially in a digital marketing agency in order to practice and grow faster in the industry.

As for data analysis, go for it if you have a background in the numerical field such as mathematics and statistics, otherwise, you might need a portfolio to prove your mettle. Without that, you can't stand a chance in the labour market.

In addendum, data analytics does not stand on its own. You need to tie it to a particular industry in order to know where to focus your efforts. For instance, you can choose data analysis for business or medical data analysis, etc.

Finally, if you want to be very successful in digital marketing, you need to be able to analyse data in order to make informed decisions.

I don't find interest in Digital marketing as it is not my thing. In essence, you have to get yourself into what you have a flare for and will likely do better.

Lots of organization are now in pursuit for Data analysts, I can assure you.

Take out time to Learn Python or R, SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and lastly Excel. Python will take much of your time as you'll try to get familiar with a lots of libraries like Pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy etc. Just today, the same python made me realize how foolish I can be which is really funny. Learning never stops; everyday I smile when I realize this.

Mind you, I am currently one of them (a Data analyst).
