But na "me and you" dey dump that refuse for center of road under the cover of darkness. Yes, the govt is lax too with its responsibility and enforcement but the main koko lies on the the citizens to act appropriately.
Even when refuse containers are provided, we prefer shortcut along the road or drainage during rainfall. Where services are provided by refuse contractors, "we" still refuse to pay!
Abegi! Our own dey all of us body... as if say nor be all of us be the government we condemn.

MARKone:
Why is it difficult for these governor's to effectively manage waste disposal in their respective States, I know Nigerians can be unruly, but these Governors travel to US and the Europe and see how those countries manage their waste disposal, or they can outsource the management and be paying the contractors as at when due. Are we going to remain like this forever?

Residents are meant to pay for waste disposal even if it's outsourced like we have in Lagos State. The PSPs in Lagos are paid by residents but the problem is an average Nigerian doesn't want to pay for services.

Ogun state should have copied the Lagos State PSP model,I heard Ogun now have PSPs though. though the Lagos PSPs might not be perfect but it's still working, the major issue now is getting payment from Lagosians

They should learn from Lagos and other states that has managed refuse dumping very well over the years. These things shouldn’t be a problem in 2022 the world is advancing everyday.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State should please do the needful on the refuse dumps in Ogun State.

Ogun people should do the needful with their local government chairmen who are responsible for waste disposal, and receive millions monthly allocation for that purpose and other responsibilities of LGAs.
Why have the LGAs not employed enough people for refuse disposal

leavegoodbehind:
STATUTORY FUNCTIONS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 provides in the Fourth Schedule the main functions of Local Governments in Nigeria as follows: –
(a)the consideration and the making of recommendations to a State Commission on Economic Planning or any similar body on:
(i) the economic development of the State, particularly in so far as the areas of authority of the Council and of the State are affected, and
(ii) proposals made by the said Commission or body;
(b) collection of rates, radio and television licences;
(c) establishment and maintenance of cemeteries, burial grounds and homes for the destitute or infirm;
(d) licensing of bicycles, trucks (other than mechanically-propelled trucks), canoes, wheel barrows and carts;
(e) establishment, maintenance and regulation of slaughter houses, slaughter slabs, markets, motor parks and public conveniences;
(f) construction and maintenance of roads, streets, street lightings, drains and other public highways, parks, gardens, open spaces, or such public facilities as maybe prescribed from time to time by the House of Assembly of a State;
(g) naming of roads and streets, and numbering of houses;
(h) provision and maintenance of public conveniences, sewage and refuse disposal;
(i) registration of all births, deaths and marriages;
(i) out-door advertising and hoarding;
(ii) movement and keeping of pets of all descriptions;
(iii) shops and kiosks;
(iv) restaurants, bakeries and other places for sale of food to the public,
(v) laundries, and
(vi) licensing, regulation and control of the sale of liquor.

Apart from these exclusive functions, the function of Local Governments shall include participation of such Councils in the government of a state as respects the following matters:
(a) the provision and maintenance of primary, adult and vocational education;
(b) the development of agriculture and natural resources other than the exploitation of minerals;
(c) the provision and maintenance of health services; and
(d) such other functions as may be conferred on a local Government Council by the House of Assembly of the State.

As provided for in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Local Governments have functions and responsibilities assigned.
Some of these functions are performed exclusively by the Local Government like the maintenance of cemeteries, markets and motor parks. On the other hand, some other functions and responsibilities are performed concurrently with the State Government. Among these concurrent functions are primary education, agriculture, health and any other functions that may be conferred on Local Government by the House of Assembly of the State. As can be seen, these various functions and responsibilities of Local Governments are quite enormous and demanding. The tragedy of the situation is that Local Governments have very limited and circumscribed sources of revenue to enable them execute meaningfully and effectively the functions and responsibilities assigned to them.

In my local government at Ajeromi Ifelodun in Ajegunle, we have not felt the presence of local government at all, take for instance, the road from otto – wharf to Achakpo have never been maintained for as provided in the constitution, the question begging for an answer, is what do the Ajeromi Local Government do with money that go to them? HOW IS YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT?, express your mind if indeed they are working now that you know their functions.

Why are you kidding around about Lagos and filth
Why do you think many Lagos areas, including Lekki get flooded every year, even after Joe Igbokwe was made SSA for gutter cleaning?

itubaba001:
Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

Last year, Nigeria overtook India as the country with the largest number of people living in extreme poverty, thereby becoming the world capital of poverty, according to the Brookings Institute. This year, the number has risen to 91.6 million from 87 million in June 2018. Every minute, six Nigerians enter the group of extremely poor people, according to the World Poverty Clock.

Ogun state have the worst road in Nigeria cos the governor is not interested in the development of the state but just to become a governor for his own selfish purpose . Go to Akute ,Lambe ,Ishashi ,Ijoko ,Sango are all not walkable not to talk of motorable . And some people are already campaigning for his 2nd term . Nigerian loves who makes them suffer and they fight who is fighting for their freedom . I will be alright Las las

Why complain and listen to explanations and promises and wait? If they should just dump pampers and other such garbage at the offices and residences of these politicians a solution will he found overnight. As long as it is not affecting them ... they will drag feet.
