Is there a specific amount one must possess before initiating a building project given that one has a land already? Or is building something one can start small?

Well, i would have started something on my land. But right now, i am at loggerhead with the seller cos he has refused to issue receipt for me since 2020, i have done all what's within my power, but the receipt is still not been issued.
I've fenced the land round though and am monitoring the site incase they want to act funny I'll just do the last thing in my mind for them.
They won't see it coming

Just make sure you are owing something worthwhile

It will be enough. 700k. You buy a truckload of granite, a truck load of sharp sand, 400 to 500 blocks, 25 bags of cement, digging and labour should not exceed 90k, iron rod to do the at least four pillars and payment for iron rod bender should take 60k at most etc. 700k will make it. It won't cover german floor or filling of the foundation as that can be done later.

This is one of the reason many are poor in this country...

Once they make their first money they buy land in a forest and start what they can't finish.

Money they could have grown gets buried in the ground just to belong to the "I dey build house" crew.

When I made my first millions many years ago all the advisers came out in their numbers telling me to buy land and start building, but I know that's not what I should do.

I ignored the bandwagon and kept working hard until I made my first billion naira.

I didn't have to buy any land to build, I went to the best estates in lekki and bought the best houses and I do whatever I want.

If you like tie your little capital down inside the ground and keep blaming the government for all your shortcomings in the future.

My mum asked me to borrow her N70k for her business and I did. The next thing she called to follow her to the site and I found out she has already gotten 500 pcs of blocks and 10 bags of cement. That was how we started.

She told me “You start by starting. Do all you can before your children start growing.” 1 started a year into my marriage and moved-in the next year.

I was considering starting when I have about 50% of the required fund.

yes i did the design. I am an architect.
That's a good start. I never knew you had a drawing already. But since you have a design already, the best thing is to employ the services of a professional to estimate the cost of materials and labour required to finish the foundation, the next stage is foundation to lintel level, the next is final block levelling. After that, the roof and finishings.
Having those information i stated above will aid in your planning so you don't just lay 50 blocks inside the foundation and eventually you discover that the project is beyond your capacity at this time. Mist times, that is why you see so many people start up building projects and end up not finishing it.
In some cases, most if those projects even end up swallowing the owner's means of livelihood and they end up struggling to survive.

This is an interesting thread. Started my last week Wednesday. I didn't plan of buying the land, i wanted to change my car to something higher.

Suddenly, i received a letter from my landlord, my rent has been increased and it didn't worth it all. And i dont want to start hustling for another house to rent , i dont even have energy for that again. Still have few months to left on my rent, wanna try a finish up a little.

Back to the topic, after paying for the land, what I have left is less than a Mill. But sha, we keep pushing. God knows best!

na money for gate, flooring , wiring, and borehole stand i dey find like this,,,,
everyother things dn dey d house including tiles, doors, pop, toilet ,shower, heater,.. d house too big self, for just do small 3 bedroom..

Honestly about 3.5 but I wasn't eager about a house, I need a new car.
So I got a new car instead and spent the remaining 500,000 on blocks.
Next year I finished the crib and my family moved in.

My only rEgret:
I should never have included rental apartments in my property.
