Here in oyibo land it is the same. I remember schooling here and everywhere was dull on Easter. Major business places were closed other than corner shops. Na me alone chill for hostel dey watch porn to pass time. Today I’m spending it in a warm house with a family. Watching porn happened yesterday so I could fully focus on today’s activities.

Last I checked, not a single one of the almost 100 commandments Jesus Christ infact gave to His followers lists anything about celebrating His death or resurrection, not even His sneezing, so I am not certain what this una good Friday dey be for since e no concern God at all at all nor does it honor Him. undecided

This is instead the day the Easter bunny disappears underground to go lay its colorful chocolate eggs all over the place so that lucky folks like me can, on Easter bunny day, go Egg hunting. HAPPY Easter bunny holiday ! grin

You seriously need help.
Why is your Bunny Holiday always coinciding with Good Friday and Resurrection Celebration?
What's your business with what Christians celebrate and commemorate?
Repent of your blasphemous insolence and sacrilegious impudence.
Jesus is the ONLY WAY TO BOTH EARTHLY PEACE AND ETERNAL BLISS.
If our Lord and Saviour died and rose again so celebrating and remembering such mighty victory over Death, Devil and Hades is your headache?
May God have mercy on you.
Shalom.

1..Holy than thou of you Jehovah's Witnesses is too much and that in its self is a sin.
If you say it is only what Jesus commanded you to do is what you'd do then there is no need for you to go to school because Jesus never did and He never commanded us to go to school if you have chosen to go to school which Christ never did and never commanded you to, you have no right to question who ever celebrate birthdays, Easter and Christmas.

2. The Passover (bread and wine) you guys celebrate is supposed to be taken by all Christ's disciples but you guys say it is for 144,000 out of the whole multitudes of christians on earth. There is no place in the gospel where Christ stated that. He faced the whole disciples and said " do this in my remembrance" not "144,000 of you should do this in my remembrance"
All the the disciples ate the bread and drank the wine.
You guys should face your beliefs and leave others to theirs.
1. Only that which God commands are you allowed to do In His Name. When you do that which He has not commanded of you, in His Name, you sin against Him.. undecided

I don't attend school, watch TV, eat, play, chat here on nairaland, eat birthday cakes, celebrate the Easter bunny etc., in the name of God. This since God never commanded I do these in His name. All of these things listed here are the meaningless things of this world that I do and I don't associate them in any way or form with God who never commanded them of me. Hope this helps you better understand now. undecided

2. What Passover? What 144,000? I am afraid you have lost me. undecided

It is written,

"Man's own foolish decisions are the root cause of his problems but he has the temerity to blame it all on the Lord" (Proverbs 19:3, PBV).

Check your decision making and stop the blame game.

I WAS ONCE A CHRISTIAN

BUT NO LONGER, I REALISED JESUS WAS OVERHYPED

Every Good Friday, Christian pastors stand in their pulpits and tell the biggest lie of the Christian faith.

In their zeal to overstate the suffering of Jesus – as if being tortured and nailed to a cross for six hours isn’t bad enough – they will attempt to convince people in the pews that Jesus also experienced a spiritual separation from the Father and that, for the first time in all Eternity, the bond between Father and Son was severed.

This is never taught anywhere in the Bible.

Not once.

Next, they will add one last insult by confidently asserting that the Father turned His face away from Jesus in that same moment because of all of that awful sin – your sins and mine – that were laid upon him.

But…there isn’t one single verse – not one hint, anywhere – that the Father turned away from Jesus at any time.

It’s just not there.

And yet, somehow, in hundreds of thousands of Christian Churches across the globe, where pastors routinely claim to teach/preach ONLY what the Bible says and not what they wish it said, or any man-made doctrines, they will quite ironically do exactly that.

Where is the verse that claims the Father and the Son were ever separated from one another?

Where is the scripture that affirms that the Father turned His face away from the Son?

There aren’t any verses that say these things.

Yet no one ever challenges these outright lies or questions this fabricated narrative.

Every Good Friday, and every Easter, preachers, teachers and pastors repeat this absolute fairy tale theology over and over again until no one questions it and everyone believes it’s the Gospel truth.

But, it’s not. It’s a big, fat, huge lie.

The closest thing to a proof text for these two huge lies is found only in one place, and even then it says nothing even close to what pastors try to make it say.

Here’s the verse: “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

“…They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.” [v.18]

Wow. That’s pretty amazing. Jesus quotes the first line of a well-known Hebrew worship song while on the cross which predicts his own crucifixion.

But, let’s keep reading that same chapter in Psalms to see if there are any other clues about why Jesus might have referenced it. If we do we’ll read this startling statement:

“For God has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.” [v.24]

Anyone who halfway tries to study the reference Jesus makes to Psalm 22 cannot help but notice that the Scriptures deny the idea that God would turn his face away from Jesus as they pierce his hands and his feet, and as they divide his clothing and cast lots for his garment. No! It emphatically and decisively proclaims that God HAS NOT HIDDEN HIS FACE FROM HIM!

What more proof do we need?

How about what Jesus himself says?

“A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.” [John 16:32]

So, if your pastor or Sunday School teacher tries to convince you that Jesus experienced separation from God on the cross, or that the Father turned his face away from Jesus as he was being crucified, feel free to challenge their poor scholarship.

Better yet, urge them to preach the truth rather than spread lies. Encourage them to preach what the scriptures actually teach:

“That God was in Christ not counting our sins against us but reconciled the World to Himself” [2 Cor. 5:19]

“God is love and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” [1 John 4:16]

Your theological grasp of the Scripture about what transpired at the Cross is obviously deficient, if not non-existent.
So, what made you leave Christianity?
You ain't a Christian anymore, so why comment on Christian doctrine?
In your arrogant ignorance you feel you have the right to lecture us about a biblical truth of a religion you are a stranger and outsider to.
You don't deserve a reply.
But for the sakes of ignorant and gullible people like you, it is expedient to correct your childish understanding of Scriptures.
You blindly and wilfully pretend not to understand the plain meaning of the cry of Jesus on the cross, "My God, My God why have You FORSAKEN Me?"
Please, Mr. Lecturer, what is the meaning of To Forsake someone?
If you meet a lady on the road crying and weeping saying, "My boyfriend, my boyfriend, why have you FORSAKEN me?" will you go to open Psalm 22 to explain her lamentation?
You're very insincere.
I believe that's why you left the Christian Faith.
It is not for insincere, dishonest people like you.
In Isaiah 59 : 2, the Bible says, " ... Your iniquities have SEPARATED you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you..."
Now, compare the two synonymous words FORSAKE AND SEPARATE.
Why did you think Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane that the Cup should pass over Him?
It was so grim that God had to send an angel from heaven to encourage Jesus, after God had earlier sent Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration to also encourage Jesus.
So, you didn't realize that it was because Jesus was about to experience SOMETHING He never tasted before - Disconnection, separation from God because He would be made a Sin Sacrifice as the Lamb of God Who took away the sins of the world?
No wonder you left Christianity, since you don't understand the fundamental fact that "God made Him Who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become God's righteousness in Him." (2Corinthians 5 : 21).
You have only come online to announce your arrogant ignorance to the whole world.
Humble yourself and return to Jesus.
Join a Bible teaching community of believers and be cured of your arrogance and ignorance.
Shalom.
Happy Good Friday!

Today marks the day that Jesus Christ showed his love by laying down His life so that those who believe in Him should have eternal life.

I believe in Him that He is the son of God who gives me salvation, therefore I know I have eternal life.

No amount of money ever in this world could solve issues of charity and social development.
No level of piety, fasting and good works could ever give anyone salvation and eternal life.
No record of networking, broadcasting or outreach could take the place of an Omnipresent Creator.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, on Him the Foundation of love, faith, redemption and salvation are we as TLF, our activities and persons built on.

There is nothing you can do when you are cut off from the vine!

Who is talking about Halloween here?
If you don't celebrate anything, keep it to yourself.
Did Jesus asked you to attend school and learn about evolution?
He asked us to fish for men.
When was the last time you went about in your community evangelizing lost souls?
Was He not a carpenter?
To be like Him you should have been content with being a carpenter.

Bible says if you have faith have to yourself.
Tonight is the Passover in Israel.

By putting your trust in the man named Paul, who remains in his grave to this day, awaiting judgment of his own, you violate God's Law to you. Paul can't save you. By putting your trust in the man named Paul, who remains in his grave to this day, awaiting judgment of his own, you violate God's Law to you. Paul can't save you. Only Jesus Christ can and His Words, which is God's Law to you, are written in the 4 Gospels for you to learn and obey. God Himself is said to have spoken from Heaven in a thunderous voice declaring, of Jesus Christ, " This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Obey Him! " . undecided

So you decide! Will you obey God or will you continue to obey a man called Paul? undecided[/quote]

When ignorance meets arrogance anywhere the offspring is error.
So Apostles Peter and John and the rest ten apostles of Jesus Christ were foolish and stupid NOT to have known that what Paul preached isn't the gospel?
In Galatians 2 all of them welcomed Paul into the Fellowship of Apostles after they had scrutinized his teachings.
20 centuries later you are here saying what you like.
Well done.
Bye.
