Have they forgotten the bandits can bring down the helicopter?
I won't be surprised if the bandits now have armored tanks.

You seem to know a lot about bandits operations.

Perhaps you typed this from their camp. Terrorist apologist.

This is not even funny. Its only a temporary measure and unsustainable.
Re: Video Of Helicopter Accompanying A Train In Nigeria Causes Stir On Social Media by nextstep(m): 10:14pm On Apr 17, 2022
If gov't doesn't do anything, people will complain. Now they're patrolling (with helicopter), people are still complaining. You can't patrol the trains with cars because rail track often don't follow a highway. Of course they can put armed guards aboard, but they can be overwhelmed anyway.

At any rate, as with anything in Nigeria, this is just for show and in a few days, there won't be fuel for the helicopter, or somebody will divert fuel funds to their pocket, or it will develop some mechanical fault.

Nigerians and complaint, Abbah!!!
The train was attacked because nobody cares ,especially the government and now that they care... Nigerians have better means of protection than the government's. And funny enough, most of those commenting negatively can't even protect his or her own family. Nigerian; highly pessimistic in nature. I LOVE MY COUNTRY, AND BY GOD'S GRACE EVERYTHING GONNA BE GR8.

Not a viable measure though but trust Nigerians to still complain for no reason.
You complained by your first sentence of it not been a viable measure. It's good to complain about this horrible failure called Buhari

But at least, they still come up with something, if it's combatant chopper, it will be useful at least to repel bandits attacking the train, it could also be a way to visualize bandits hideout and quickly alert field soldiers to ambush them.

Nigerians are just too pessimistic, they will never try to reason from different angle, do they know how big the forest is, its not easy locating and pinpointing this bandits hideouts and drones can't help cux of trees.

What simple technology can solve but this abokis will rather keep misbehaving.
Even technology cannot solve jack. Assuming you install surveillance equipment, what does that mean? Just to watch film ie video footage of how the bandits are attacking trains, because before the security agencies are alerted the bandits would have had a field day and escaped with their "goods".
The only solution is to go on an offensive and eliminate the bandits. Attack them in their bases day and night. Ambush the survivors and wipe them out, until the left overs see it is no longer profitable for them. That was what Jonathan did with Boko Haram when he invited mercenaries.
Let us get mercenaries if the army cannot solve the menace.

There is certainly a VIP inside that Train, maybe Rotimi Amaechi's BushMeat. grin grin
Let us see whether they will do the same thing, for the Ibadan to Lagos train.
grin grin

Drones should be used for Surveillance, they can fly at high altitude, can glide silently and can evend eliver strikes, if the proper one like the Turkish one is used.
No one is disputing that drones should not be used...but do we have enough drones?..
No..

There is nothing wrong with using what we have..
Before the last attacks.
The airforce deploys it Augusta 109 helicopter regularly to patrol the railline...the videos are on YouTube...they are complaining about fuel what so ever..as far as security is consigned

If that this is what can ensure safety for now...why not

It won't...

Dat why the the sensors amaechi talked about is badly needed..

But the choppers can still see the bandits and engage before they get closer

Nigerians on social media have reacted to a video in which a helicopter was accompanying a train to its destination. This is apparently an effort to safeguard the train against bandits’ attacks.

The video which was shared by Echefula Wisdom attracted many negative reactions. According to the reactions that followed the video on Twitter, it is a waste of resources for Nigeria to make use of the helicopter in protecting the train.

According to some commentators, bandits could easily attack the helicopter.

Below are some of the reactions as gathered by WonderTV Media.
