After several months of speculations and seemingly unending denials by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo on Monday, April 11, finally declared his intention to contest for the office of the president in 2023. The months-long delay, according to very reliable sources was ostensibly due to his repeated failure to secure Buhari’s anointing as the preferred or consensus candidate despite several entreaties and lobbying. Unfortunately for him, the APC constitution does not make room for the nomination of a presidential candidate by consensus. It is either direct or indirect primary. With time running out and less than two months to the APC presidential primary, he took his destiny into his hands and declared notwithstanding. Therefore, similar to other persons who have declared interest in the office of the president come 2023, it is apposite to also interrogate the declaration of Osinbajo’s ambition. Given his position as a sitting vice president, his ambition will be interrogated from three perspectives, namely: hard facts, soft facts and leavings.https://www.thecable.ng/2023-osinbajos-problematic-ambition/amp

Osinbajo’s declaration speech failed to mention a single achievement in seven years. Yes, not one single achievement was mentioned in the speech because there is no achievement to brandish. How can a man superintend over a country’s economic affairs for seven years and yet, cannot point to a single achievement? Shouldn’t what he has achieved in office be the basis for campaigning for office in 2023? What can i say Subject yoruba man Writer yoruba man . |

The disciples of druggie Chicago should rest! The midget never used bullion vans in broad day light to launder cash or send soldiers to the toll gate to shoot peaceful protesters, he doesn't urinate on his clothes either or has radioactive brown teeth that he hasn't cleaned in decades. |

My own take is that Osinbajo has been part of this government and as it is, he is the anointed candidate of Major General Buhari(rtd). If Osinbajo should become the president of this country, he is going to continue with the Buhari's sinister policies for the first three years at least, Osinbajo heads the various economic teams and the economy of the country is presently at its lowest ebb. It's a flimsy excuse when people say he can't do anything because he is the VP, if he has not contributed to this government, Buhari would not be anointing him. I see Osinbajo's government as a continuation of this government whose draconian policies have dwindled our economy to the crunch. He is going to become another Jonathan in government who can easily be manipulated. It's high time we shunned sentiments and allowed other people with different ideas to lead us. Let's shun religion politics, if a traditional worshiper is the chosen messiah to lead this country right, may he be enthroned. Nobody should bamboozle us with the title of a Pastor. Many Christians are being killed under this government, what are our pastor"s efforts to stop the menace. The VP said he wants to continue the good works of Buhari, imagine what is it that's good in this Buhari's government? Do we want to suffer for the next 8 years again? |

If Osibanjo can claim the success of this administration as his success. Then he should be ready to deal with the baggages too... |

Dear Nigerians, Don't make the mistake of campaigning for or voting for Tinubu or Osibanjo. The former is as old or even older than the disaster called Buhari and so will end up failing to fix Nigeria while the latter is a deceptive crook who as part and parcel of this current regime has aided in the destruction of the socioeconomic life of Nigerians. Buhari will handle Security. Osibanjo will handle the economy. How far with the security? How far with the economy? |

ityP:Please point out ONE STATEMENT OF FACT in this write-up that is not true. Honestly, the VP has no record to campaign with. Aside from being part and parcel of this government, he failed woefully in the SPECIFIC ROLES ASSIGNED TO HIM. |

I will always choose Osinbajo over Tinubu any day, anytime, but that doesn't mean the truth shouldn't be said. Without a firm endorsement from Buhari, there is no way Osinbajo can win the APC primaries. Out of the top people vying for the APC Presidential ticket, he's the only one with the weakest political base. Tinubu seem to have locked down most of the delegates...unfortunately too, Tinubu can stand shoulder to shoulder with the Presidency financially to buy the delegates. Except the Presidency somehow successfully imposes a concensus candidate, Tinubu will be the party's flag bearer come 2023. And going the concensus way means a guaranteed implosion. |

The media in Nigeria is for the highest bidder. Just drop 200k to any of the big names, they will write anything. And to see this nonsense being written my cable is just despicable. Journalism to do the dogs. Same with the big Nigerian names in TV, they all frolicked with this Facebook scammers ovazio or what is her name. Just give them money, they will sell any story. the APC constitution does not make room for the nomination of a presidential candidate by consensus. It is either direct or indirect primary.I’ve said this severally but some coconut head wailers keep believing the contrary. Tinubu, Osinbajo and Amaechi are all good to go. I have no doubt in my mind that any of them that emerge will do well. However, they all will be subjected to a thorough and rigorous primary election. Nobody will emerge as the party’s candidate by anointing. Overall, I think this is an unfair review of Yemi Osinbajo’s performance as Vice President. Blaming him for the state of the economy is simply stupid. The EMT was disbanded about 4 years ago in favor of an Economic advisory council headed by Doyin Salami. Covid-19 and the crash in crude oil prices also contributed significantly to the state of the economy. I don’t think we could have done any better considering how stronger economies all over the world fared. And regarding the SIP, it was headed by a Muslim lady, Maryam Uwais from the north and not a RCCG member. The chief of staff to the Vice President, Ade Ipaye is also a Muslim from Lagos. |

When osibanjo was acting president Nigeria felt like London for some months. While there may or may not be other issues with his leadership especially in connection with Rccg I think most of the accusations are fictitious. Many of his Muslim staffs and friends have spoken confidently in his support. U also forget as a Vp no matter what osibanjo can only do so much especially with other forces to contend with in a highly divided Apc. if u must blame osibanjo in his subjugative role as Vp, then u must also blame the cabal who are working even harder and with more influence than osibanjo as vp. ![]() Nonsense and ingredients ![]() |
