West Africa actually is quite behind though, we need to do better. Also, not many African countries are better than Nigeria. For me, Nigeria should just fix two things ASAP.
1) Bandits and Bokoharam issue
2) Electricity

Hi Nlanders! Pls i need your opinions. A family friend is planning to relocate with his family(wife & 2 kids) to Senegal or any other good African country. He said he has about a million. His wife is a teacher, while he's an artist (fine artist). He'll also appreciate if countries where art is appreciated can be suggested.

The official language in Senegal is French but MOST If not all don't even speak FRENCH. They speak wollof, fulah, mandinkan and jola. So communication is a very big challenge.

With his fine art, he is going to be competing with the locals as that is one of their major source of livelyhood (trust me once they know he is coming from Nigeria.. It would be very difficult to cope as they have serious beef with Nigerians especially the men)

Senegal weather can be extreme (but not like Mail) they have predious of hail storm where the sands from the desert blows into the city and they can bee very bad.. I remember I when the sand would cut my skin badly so I was on long sleeves more than half the time.

French system is totally different from ours.. Most of their shops do shut down for the summer holiday (I think it depends on the area) and whey close for mid day break about 2hrs each day.

He should get ready for cultural shock.

Gambia too is good but life there can be slow (we Nigerians are always in a hurry) so don't expect them to move like we do.

The last time I went by road with friends tho, it took us 5days but I heard its about 7days by public transport not sure that would be conducive for the kids.

Gambians love Nigerias especially their landlord because they charge *3 of the normal rent since Nigerians love showing off.

Thanks to abacha's son that year, came to Sheraton in Gambia, booked their presidential suit for 6months and stayed for 3 days.. (how true not sure but most Nigerians they love spending)

I can't vouch for their educational system but the little I see, our educational system here is WAY better.

Like everyone said here.. Let him do his research its best if he try and avoid some Nigerians there.. Their job is to fish out freshers and swindle them lipsrsealed

I envy you Bro, you are well traveled that's why it's always good to have a second passport

I know you can enter Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore etc visa on arrival with a Benin Republic passport good to know you can do that as well with Gambian passport not Nigeria.

As a Nigerian passport holder, you need visa to enter almost all sane countries of the World.
And who spoilt it?
is it not your fellow travellers that go there in thousands and commit crime?
Re: Relocating To Senegal With Family by CSTRR: 10:43pm On Apr 23, 2022

Tayo Aina was denied by Dubai recently, heck even Dangote was profiled in Angola despite the fact that he was invited by the Angolan President while his employees from other countries were allowed in quickly.

It's a very sad development indeed. Imagine Mauritius giving a Benin Republic passport holder 2months visa on arrival while a Nigerian passport holder is given 2 weeks!

It's not about Tayo Aina being denied, his case is not exception... At the moment Dubai government don't issue visa for guys under 35 yrs, Abu Dhabi visa is going through.

Moreover you didn't mention he later got the visa

I know he was approved after being denied twice, just tryna bring that to the limelight that Nigerians can hardly travel smoothly to some countries these days.

Please stay in Nigeria.
Those countries are fucking expensive, I was born and brought up in ivory coast and it has similar life style with Senegal.
You pay at least 40k monthly for just a room
It has constant electricity of which you pay every month and no be small money
You pay water every two months, well is not allowed and So many taxes if you have a shop.
And so many things I can't remember to mention
I usually tell people that Nigeria is a best place to stay if you have money to start something..
Just find a business and invest your money on it.. best of luck

You can open a bet9ija shop with 500k and thank me later

Ok, yeah once you're holding a Nigerian passport you're already seen as a suspect at POE in almost every country, the way the immigration officer will attend is always different.

May God help us

It's majorly the fault of many Nigerians who go to commit crimes in these foreign countries.
