Why PDP May Lose 2023 Presidential Election – Reno Omokri by TheDemola: 6:49pm On Apr 24, 2022
A former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, on Sunday, predicted the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and the chances of both ruling All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the exercise.

He said that should the APC zoned its presidential ticket to South West region, the main opposition party would lose the election if it zoned its ticket to a region with lover voting strength.

In a tweet on his Twitter handle on Sunday, the former presidential aide and staunch critic of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) regime, analysed the 2019 election with voter numbers to back his prediction.

According to him, politics is a game of numbers, not sentiments.

He wrote, “The 2019 election by voter numbers:

NW: 8.2 M
NC: 4.4 M
NE: 4.3 M
SW: 3.8 M
SS: 3:2 M
SE: 2.09 M

“If APC gives their ticket to the SW, PDP will LOSE if it gives its ticket to any zone with a lower voting strength. Politics is a game of numbers, not sentiments!”

That's somewhat true but 2023 will be VERY LITTLE about the party and a WHOLE LOT about the candidate.
An Osinbajo by virtue of his pan-Nigerian appeal will pummel anyone from the north, Turaki inclusive.

For once, I do hope Nigerians get the opportunity to choose between 2 young and cerebral candidates in Obi and Osinbajo.

Reno has seen the game plan and knows his master Atiku stands no chance of becoming the pdp candidate.

Lets now hope Apc chose a worthy south westerner else Reno prediction might turn out wrong

One thing that has kept Nigeria behind and unprogressive is tribalism and sentiments.

What Reno is indirectly saying here is that PDP should give Atiku the flag because he's from the North and not Peter Obi, cos the Northerners will prefer to vote for their own despite Obi being much better in every ramification.

But I think Buhari's regime should have opened many people's eyes to the truths and realities of things. What Nigeria has gone through in the hands of Buhari should have made virtually everyone to know that what matters is competence and true leadership.

Peter Obi is the best candidate so far from the PDP, he's someone with a track record of success. He's like a coach that has good record in his former team and will most likely replicate his performance in the next and bigger team.

In the PDP we have Obi and in the APC we have Osinbajo, these are men that will offer hope and brighter things to Nigeria. They're not power drunk or selfish, they're there to salvage the situation on ground unlike their older counterparts who just wants to rule for ruling sake. Anyone of them that takes the mantle of leadership will take Nigeria to a better and greater heights.

People should stop taking us backwards by talking about regions and tribes, we're past that stage of voting out of sentiments. Look for the best candidates and vote for them irrespective of tribe, color and religion. Make Nigeria a better place, we're bitterly far from our mates in the world due to bad leadership. Stop suffering others because of your selfish interest.

It appears no candidate from the NW may flag either the APC or PDP ticket, so we may not expect as large a turnout from the NW in 2023. That turnout was driven by PMB who had a cult following in that region. No matter who PMB endorses, the turnout may not be as large this time around.

The PDP may have an upper hand if the APC makes the mistake in who flags its ticket. A key consideration for the APC should not be the most popular in the party, but rather who is widely accepted and can go on to win the general election. I'm not sure if there is any credible poll for the APC but speaking from sentiments I would think Osinbajo remains the strongest candidate even against an Atiku/Obi ticket though he still needs to be able to extricate himself from the government in his messages and campaigns which will be a tough job but not impossible.

The PDP is supposed to have an upper hand in this coming election for several seasons. First, Buhari is not on the ticket. Second, the economy is in bad shape. Third, insecurity is clearly a big issue. Fourth, they can field a popular candidate from the north and capture huge voter numbers.

Given the above reasons, the APC is in a vulnerable position and needs to get it right, else they will lose the election.

GEJ won in 2011, what was the voting strength of SS.
No region or zone can win election singlehandedly.

NW with the highest number had to align with SW before Buhari could win.

Reno didn't make any sense here.

APC is not in any kind of danger because we all know quite well that PDP is broke and at the long run will give their ticket to the highest bidder either Wike or Atiku. Wike cannot get 5% votes in any northern state except may be Benue and Plateau states, and for Atiku he is a regular customer to Buhari pandemic, which ever option you choose APC will win because the likes Peter Obi, Saraki, are washouts when it comes to northern politics
