My own case is even worse, I rented this mini flat in Ijegun last year for 150k, even though the rooms are small, but I was happy because the money was small compared to the comfort I thought I will enjoy afterwards,. Going through all the comments, u would understand why afonjas like slavery and why they called Igbos arrogant fellows. Secondly, it seems to be closer to the island and way cheaper than most houses you would see these days.
Let's say when one rents the house and pays a total package of 350/400k as against the whooping sum of 600/800k most agents would pressure you to pay in order to get an apartment close to the island, unsuspecting tenants would readily grab the offer with both hands.
Truth is, that landlord na werey and he needs a fellow werey to teach him a hard lesson, perhaps he still thinks he's in prison where he commands attention and bullies fellow inmates forgetting that the masses now have a voice.

I sha know Nigerians are perpetually complex and contradictory people.

So much hot air, so much brags, so much shouts and loud mouth and agbari and threats and pride in traditional and spiritual higher powers and arrows, yet the country is a bumbling pool of human rights abuse and no one can do anything.

They can threaten and beef "car-owner and jollof-eating" innocent fellow neighbours, but to channel that energy to people that actually oppress them, they won't.

Like this David guy used to say, there is no elite class in Nigeria, because it is only in Nigeria that people who have money will still be receiving the same ill-treatment as paupers.
