I use TMT iron rods for my buildings and construction work, they are stronger and right sized..

We used it for all our columns/pillars the iron benders where just complaining about how difficult ot was for them to bend it...

But the pricing right now is not friendly mehn...

Still working on it though

The feedback I hear is that the local one are not good.

If l understand what you mean by categories, you mean different qualities.

My answers is no even though the mechanical properties of a steel may have a little difference.

The major difference between local and foreign rods l know is that local rods tend to carry more loads but breakable while foreign carry lesser but extendable.

Some rods are harder to bed than orders. Local rods tend to be harder to bend than foreign.

Whichever way, Nigeria local steel are good for construction as long as the product is certified.

In engineering construction the only way to ascertain what is right is to take it to the lab and run the appropriate tests. Every other thing is opinion based. There was a time people use caliper to randomly check the size.
