Pls house,experienced car user and mechanics,l have been having sleepless nite since some days now,and sorry if my write up is much.Some one advertised a tok Toyota Camry 2003 here on Nairaland. l travelled all d way from Aba to Otta in Ogun state with a car dealer and bought d car,changed oil and travelled to east with d car. Getting to Benin,the car show oil sign on d dash board with small unusual sound. we parked and checked d oil and d oil has dried up completely. We bought 4 litres of Orwando oil and added to it.After some time,d speed can not exceed 60 with out making that noise. We managed to get to Warri and park it. I called my mechanic,he said that d metal is bad and it can be changed from under,while some mechanics l called said that the engine has to be dropedd and do complete over hauling. So pls advise me on the best option to take because am completely depressed right now. And also how to approach the seller.

I think it was when the oil dried out that your damaged your shaft. First solution is to solved the oil problem. Before the engine repair. All this will cost you additional houndreds of thousands.

I had same experience with my 2003 big daddy ,I wasted lots of money going from one mechanic to another ,if you start your car and raise it well , engine oil will supply to the necessary parts of the engine hereby making the shafts of the engine not to make any noise and the movement you're accelerating slowly ,the unpleasant sound will start. Don't repair the shaft cus if you do ,you'll end up buying another shaft, don't let inexperienced mechanic handle your vehicle cus you'll spend more than what you budget for ,you'll need to get a mechanic that can repair Toyota cars ,you'll buy the shafts (two rods) 40k the last time I bought mine, your mechanic will bring down your engine, and replaced the bad shaft.

Back to the cause of the oil shorted after you drove the car home: ensure your mechanic check underneath your car to know where engine oil is leaking . In my own case ,my car engine oil is leaking by the left hand side of my at the top of my engine ,I will attach picture later, the part where the engine oil is leaking was fixed by replacing the broken bolt like substance ( I bought it for #2500) then we used 4min gum to glue the surroundings of that bolt.

Pls note: if you didn't fix where the engine oil is leaking ,you'll end up spending excess money of buying engine oil weekly and moving around with a noisy embarrassing car engine.

My brother d engine has no lickage,it has been checked very well. The mechanic said l should buy a good metal and rings,and may b if d gap on it is much,it b bored to standard or wat ever.lnfact l left it to my base at Aba,may be by week end,l will buy the items and go back for d over hauling stuff

does the car smoke? Ringing engine is not advisble, you won't get original parts like that from the manufacturer. Get a tokubo engine or sell the car.

Na that 2AZ FE engine, the tokunbo engine he'll buy might even be burning excessive oil, there is no guarantee. But he might get the original kit here, though it will be very expensive, saw it at AliExpress back then, it was 150k. But I think he was sold a bad car, the guy say he changed the oil b4 leaving for Aba, that na very bad engine.

For someone to travel from Aba to Otta about 700km because of Nigeria used big daddy, the car might be extremely cheap in lieu of the bad engine.

Op sorry to hear this, I think you should have gone with a trusted mechanic instead of a dealer.Bought a Nigerian used Toyota Camry in January this year, even though the mileage is on the high side,Car still run perfectly, went there with a mechanic and a trusted friend that knows about car,never worked on the engine except for regular servicing. Will advice you copy Gazzuzz or nurey here.

Some 2az cars cannot ride from Ogun to Delta straight because they burn oil. You have to be topping oil after some covered mileage

The engine can be repaired but the ability to still be good is what I don't know.

2 that 2azfe nah stubborn engine if it is repaired the oil warning sensor may remain so you won't know when oil is low or not.

The damage has been done, if car still drives and oil consumption is minimal and it's for city runs, then manage it till you can save enough to afford replacement engine.
