I am starting to question my beliefs

I was sold the lie of education
And the absurd belief that knowledge is power.

They told us that if you go to school, get a good degree you will get a lucrative job.

But today with a strong 2:1 and intense job hunt it would seem that my pali would serve more purpose as suya wrappings because i cant use my certificate.

Life for no hard like this if they didnt cage us in academic institutions for 4 years reformating Our thinking

With your strong 2.1, you can't tell the difference between education and a degree. You have a degree bro, but I doubt you are have an education.

The problem is that most of the youth don't ask themselves questions; "what if".
Sending you to school is to prepare you for life and is not a guarantee that you'll make it without your own innovations.
Every student should have plan B.

guy you must know the difference between education and formal schooling. You can't make much out of life without education. Whereas, education can be obtained outside the four walls of school. School may be scam but education is the cure for poverty and low life

The different between a richman and poor man is information. How well educated and informed are you? My own Definition of education goes thus: "It is the application of acquired knowledge to face day by day activities".The op mentioned that he had strong 2.1. How do you apply the knowledge you acquired in school while outside school?Handout reader can not be a leader

NO ONE SOLD YOU ANY LIE
You were simply mentally lazy to wait till now before waking up from your psychological slumber.

EDUCATION is taken from a greek word called EDUCO... it means to become SELF AWARE.

EDUCATION IS WHAT YOU PERSONALLY DISCOVER OR PERSONALLY TEACH YOURSELF... so even now with your LITTLE discovery, you just got EDUCATED.

At age 10 I asked questions of why mechanical engineering graduates were not mechanics... I read books outside my school books, so I discovered that our school teacher were all unhappy but didnt have a choice, because they were teaching us a lie, what NEVER worked for them.

So I found out, only SABIFICATION works more than CERTIFICATION.

All these findings are my DEGREES OF EDUCATION.

I found out, ladies do not love anyone, they LOVE how they are LOVED.... THIS IS WHY THEY ARE CHEAPER TO RICH GUYS, and play hard to get to BROKE or AVERAGE MEN...

I also found out from deep research, that even our pastors and imams, NONE OF THEM KNOWS GOD. Everyone is just covering up secret idol worship, some are just psychologists/philosophers of the bible/koran.... with a sprinkle of packaging here n there.

I found out that THINGS DONT GET BETTER, only PEOPLE DO. WHEN YOU GET BETTER, THEN YOU WILL ADVANCE TO BETTER THINGS.

SO BRO, READ BOOKS THAT LIBERATE THE MIND and you will become an elite. Don't let anyone TEACH you, study n research for what works for you.... THEN YOU ARE EDUCATED.

EXAMPLE... if a UNIVERSITY professor comes to my village, I will have to teach him how things are done, teach him the language, teach him our taboos, THIS SIMPLY SHOWS, THAT IN MY VILLAGE, HE IS AN IGNORAMUS, A NONENTITY, A STARK ILLITERATE and I have become his professor.... grin

With these few points of mine, I have proven that EDUCATION IS PERSONAL ENLIGHTENMENT and not GENERIC KNOWLEDGE.

It's good to question your beliefs. However, it remains for you to question your belief in God. cheesy God is nonexistent.

The same education that has liberated millions of people from the jaws of poverty and mental slavery. The Nigerian mentality of "if it's not happening to me, it's not happening to anyone" is funny. Just like most things in life, education favours those it favours.

Guy, which course do u study?
If u feel you'd just graduate and everything would start working like a new engine, u lie.

All I can tell u is, start from somewhere first.
Get a low paying job.
Quit girlfriends, they'd put u under pressure, you are never late.

My story is like yours.
I work and earn well in a reputable company, my coursemate who works for optician earns 4 mill a month, my project group partner works with exon mobil, the other guy works with NNPC, my best grad student works with DELOITTE, another with PWC.

We studied electrical and electronic engineering in FUTO.

Continue to deceive yourself that school is a scam.
Start from somewhere, it's not designed to be easy as you watch it in films or see on social media.
Work , pray, pick n define your career path, get a work history or experience then grow and change your school na scam mentality.
Even I said that when I was still struggling.

And I know we haven't even arrived where we want to be yet.
Good luck

Who are the we? Speak for yourself. I was not told so. My teachers made me understand the value of education early in life. Nobody ever told me anything in life implies automatic success. So if you were misguided, that's your experience, not mine. And that's the point in the post you quoted: our experiences aren't the same and yours aren't enough to invalidate education cause it favours those it favours.

Your experience is not mine.

This is your post where you quoted me claiming I contradicted myself:

gidimafia:

Where did you mention SS3 in this post and how did I contradict myself? You said you were told the texts in bold and I'm telling you you were clearly misguided. However, not everyone was misguided like that. Many of us were told the value of education early enough. It's all about individual experiences. The same Nigerian education has been some people's escape route from the jaws of poverty. Even the fact that many don't practice what they studied isn't enough to invalidate education cause it's easier to teach an educated person. While education in Nigeria is not so great and probably dead to you, it is still doing wonders for a lot of people. A lot of Nigerian graduates are growing in thier careers both home and abroad. So if anyone told you education was an automatic ticket to success, hold that person responsible for your misinformation and not education itself.
