I bought a car last year for my online Taxi business which was a decision I had to make in order to save my business from the current economic realities. The car is a Honda civic 2003, I must say the car really helps in terms of fuel economy and cost of replacing damaged parts. But then the car overheats when the sun is out with the AC on, the over heating only occurs on hot days but lately regardless of the surroundings temperature the car overheats after 2 to 3 hours of driving. I have literally tried everything from changing radiator to replacing head gasket to flushing engine block and adding additional fan that comes up when I turn on the AC all these efforts never solved the problem.
In a desperate search for a solution I have taken the car to a very professional mechanic with all gadget and tools needed to give a finally solution.

Before the car send you back to the village, first send the car to the junk yard/scrap yard.

Did the problem got fixed when you double the gasket? Have you checked that you are using the correct oil gauge?

if the oil is not gauges it could overheat.

I hope you have changed your radiator cover??

Happened to me once. When I decided to use stop leak. It clogged my radiator. I had all sorts of thought in mind. U can clean radiator with vinegar, if that doesn't work,, REPLACE IT. your radiator may be clogged even an extra fan won't solve. Did u replace the radiator?

I believe the mechos have checked the fans and talked about the water pump cuz i definitely know they've taken out the thermostat.

If your fan isn't pulling enough air through the rad it's not gonna cool. Forget the extra fan, pulling air has 4 time more effect than pushing.

Unfortunately no one would give u a fan to test your main fan's pulling power.

I have a fleet of Honda Civic from 2003 to 2005. They are good cars o...

I rarely have overheating issues... If car owners follow owners manual at all times it will greatly reduce your maintenance cost.. Civic were built as a low maintenance vehicles....

That been said, I notice you use water instead of coolant for the radiator .. The use of water instead coolant is a gradual process that will damage your engine....

Now coolant are meant to lubricate and protect the engine from overheating .. Since you are using the car for uber, it means the engine is constantly running and you spend a great amount of time in traffic .. All these factors will greatly contribute to the wear and tear of the engine.. The fact that you use water instead only expedite the wear and tear of engine.. This is a gradual process .......

Even the water that you are using is tap water. The tap water has dirty particles that can clog your water pump and worse it will cause ur radiator to rust .. Water and metal should do not mix well o.

Even if you are going to use water . You supposed to use distill water.. But coolant is ur best bet for best engine protection.....



Conclusion: The best way forward is to replace the engine. Trying to fix the engine at this stage is like throwing money inside fire.. More than likely you will need to get a complete engine.. The use of water has more than likely damage your radiator and water pump..


So instead of half engine , u will need a complete full engine... Failure to do this is a waste of time and money .... A person that cares about you will tell you engine replacement and the ones that are either illiterate or hate u , will tell you to fix engine.. You can only continue to fix engine for so long before the engine packs up..........


Always use the correct engine oil and fluids at all times . And yes civics have almost bullet proof engines, with the right amount of abuse the engine will be gone......

Thanks bro, long time. I can't agree less with all you just said. I was the one who caused the problem from the beginning. The engine giving me this problem, I out of ignorance caused it to have this issue. The engine was less than 100,000km the car was bought brand new by the previous owner and was used to shuttle ikoyi lekki axis. The return holes was not connected to the radiator and the car overheated couple of times. Due to previous knowledge with the car (mercedes) that I was used to driving and never had to worry about return holes I didn't know the importance of that "tiny holes" that lead to the head gasket burning out. And for the 1st time the engine had to be opened to replace head gasket and guess what, that was the beginning of the end of that super clean engine that runs so smooth and quiet with no single smoke from the tail pipe. I go share the entire story soon, cause in the end victory is sure.
You are one of the persons that influenced my decision to buying the civic and I know the vehicle will come out victorious because even with the issue I know how much money I take home as profit when compared to the days I used the mercedes. Peace bro sure you doing well? For a while I wouldn't access nairaland but I'm back now.

And what of the Moto oil business you running you still into it? I now have a strictly car issue/maintenance channel where we can promote such products. The channel still at infant stage but has even bigger chances of growing exponentially.

Help me understand your video, @ time stamp 2:01 in the video when you said overheated again, I believe the needle was in the middle of the game and it that is what my eye saw your car is running normal, The stream you see is from a bad radiator cap or mean in your system. You should have scanned it first to read temp and then watch it can come on when temp rise past 200 degree. You may have spent money unnecessarily

It's good for 20k miles... My advice is do 10k miles regardless of driving conditions...

Hmmm, my car is currently parked at home because of the same issue. I'm fed up. I changed everything you changed but overheating won't stop and now it affected my transmission. After all the throw ins, the engine got worse and car became undrivable unless I change the engine. Guess what! ACURA TL 2012 complete engine and transmission is 1.3m! That's how I parked it at home for 2 weeks now. Basically just saving to buy another car instead.
